  • Patent number: 8491643
Abstract: An anterior bone plate system is provided that promotes osseous fusion and allows subsidence while restricting extension. The bone plate system requires a minimum number of screws for securing the plate onto bone, thus reducing the amount of osseous tissue damage incurred by the bone structures to which they are attached. The system is also simple to use and provides for independent screw placement while incurring minimal soft tissue damage from lateral retraction. A method for implementing the system is also provided.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 25, 2005
Date of Patent: July 23, 2013
    Assignee: DePuy Spine, Inc.
Inventors: Carl Lauryssen, Morris Cesarone, Dennis Cirino, Danielle Sheeran
  • Publication number: 20050203515
Abstract: A bone anchor assembly may include a bone anchor having a distal shaft configured to engage bone and a proximal member. The proximal member may have a first section and a second section coupled to at least a portion of the bone anchor. The second section may be movably connected to the first section to facilitate relative rotation of the first section and the second section.
    Type: Application
    Filed: December 29, 2004
    Publication date: September 15, 2005
Inventors: Thomas Doherty, Mark Hall, David Selvitelli, Danielle Sheeran, Thomas Runco

  • Patent number: 6814738
Abstract: A force applying surgical system is provided for use to assist in the insertion and/or removal of a surgical tool or a device attached thereto from an orthopedic structure. This surgical system comprises a medical impacting device that mates with a surgical tool such that the impacting device can be manually reciprocated along an axis of the tool to forcefully impact the impacting device on a portion of the tool. The impacting device can generate a distally directed force for inserting the tool (and/or an attached device) into an orthopedic structure, or it can generate a proximally directed force to remove the tool (and/or attached device) from an orthopedic structure.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 15, 2002
Date of Patent: November 9, 2004
    Assignee: Depuy Acromed, Inc.
Inventors: Ronald J. Naughton, Danielle Sheeran
