Abstract: This invention relates to improved catalytic process for the manufacture of copper phthalocyanine by allowing phthalic anhydride to react with urea and a copper compound, in the presence of a hydrophobic liquid (dispersing agent), characterized by the presence, along with the catalyst and the dispersing agent, of a promoter selected from particular classes of amides, imides, ureas, thioureas, guanidines, amines or sulphoxides.

Abstract: Pigments of the formula ##STR1## wherein X.sub.1 and X.sub.2 may be the same or different from one another and each is hydrogen, chlorine, fluorine, bromine, lower alkyl having 1 to 3 carbon atoms or alkoxy having 1 to 3 carbon atoms; and wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are independently selected from the group consisting of pyrazolonyl and substituted pyrazolonyl are obtained by coupling a pyrazolone with a 4,4'-diaminobenzanilide. The pigments are useful in rotogravure inks.

Abstract: Yellow pigments having a greenish hue are represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein X.sub.1 and X.sub.2 may be the same or different from one another and each is hydrogen, halogen (chlorine, fluorine or bromine), lower alkyl or alkoxy having from 1 to 3 carbon atoms; and wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 may be the same or different from one another and each is the residue from an acyl-acetyl-amino-aromatic coupling agent or the residue from a pyrazolone coupling agent. Pigments are obtained by coupling of (1) an aceto-acetyl-amino-aromatic compound or (2) of a pyrazoline, with a 4,4'-diamino-benzanilide. The yellow pigments have the characteristic of having a high tintorial yield, a high degree of purity of tone (brightness), a good fastness to light, and good resistance to organic solvents. These pigments are particularly useful in the polychrome graphic industry.

Abstract: Hydrosoluble, cationic, azo dyes of the formula: ##SPC1##Wherein:R is an alkyl or aralkyl group;R' is an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms;R" is H, an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a halogen;R'" is an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl group substituted by a halogen, cyano, hydroxy, alkoxy or acyloxy group;Y is a cyano, amido, acyloxy or carboalkoxy group; andX is an anion, are obtained by:A. diazotizing a 2-amino-6-alkoxybenzothiazole of the formula (II): ##SPC2##b. coupling the resultant diazo compound in an acid solution with a tertiary amine of the formula (III): ##SPC3##wherein R', R", R'" and Y are as defined above; andC. quaternizing the resultant dye.
