  • Patent number: 9061864
Abstract: A method for operating an elevator having a car driven by a motor and at least one brake to stop the car, the method including closing a brake, increasing a torque of the motor until the car moves, and registering a value indicative of the motor torque at which the car moves.

  • Publication number: 20120211310
Abstract: An elevator system has a suspension member for supporting and/or moving an elevator car and being guided and driven by a traction sheave of a drive unit. The suspension member is a cord or rope that includes a body made of a polymer and at least one tension member made of wires extending in the longitudinal direction of and embedded in the body. A thickest wire in the tension member has a bending stress ?b in a range from 350 N/mm2 to 900 N/mm2 when bending the tension member about a minimum bending radius r, and wherein the bending stress is a function of the elastic modulus E and the diameter ? of the thickest wire, according to the equation ?b=(?*E)/2r, wherein the suspension member is run about a pulley having a minimum diameter D corresponding to no more than two times the minimum bending radius (D?2r).

  • Publication number: 20120067674
Abstract: An elevator cage is arranged in an elevator shaft at one end of a support means, and a counterweight is arranged at the other end of the support means. If the elevator cage is at the top in the elevator shaft, the support means length and the weight of the support means are large on the counterweight side. If the elevator cage is at the bottom in the elevator shaft, the support means length and the weight of the support means are large on the cage side. A first balancing element and a second balancing element are provided as equalization for the weight shift from the counterweight side to the cage side.

  • Patent number: 7533762
Abstract: A lift has a lift cage movable in a lift shaft and is connected with a counterweight by means of at least one support means. The lift cage or counterweight moves by means of at least one drive means separate from the support means. One end of the drive means engages the upper end of the counterweight, is guided by way of a drive pulley and by way of a deflecting roller, and engages at its other end with the lower end of the counterweight. A drive unit drives the drive pulley. The drive means consists of a drive part and a tension part of different characteristics, wherein the drive and tension parts are connected by means of a drive means connection.
