  • Patent number: 11798113
Abstract: Embodiments use electronic speech samples of detainees and automatically scan electronic speech sample databases to detect when a detainee has a criminal record and to alert controlled-environment facility personnel to that record. An electronic speech sample of the detainee is captured during booking or at another time. The electronic speech sample is compared to a database of electronic speech samples of individuals with criminal records. If the electronic speech sample matches an existing electronic speech sample in the database, then information associated with the matching electronic speech sample is provided to the controlled-environment facility personnel. The information is analyzed to identify key issues, such as active warrants. The controlled-environment facility personnel are alerted to any such key information.

  • Patent number: 11205238
Abstract: A private digitized, decentralized, and distributed controlled-environment facility ledger is created using a genesis hash and wallet code assigned to a controlled-environment facility resident upon intake of the resident into the facility. In response to an occurrence of a first controlled-environment facility transaction with respect to the resident, a first new hash containing a cryptographic hash of the genesis hash is built, and the ledger is updated to reflect the first transaction, and to associate the first new hash with the first transaction, both with respect to the resident. Thereafter, subsequent new hashes, each containing a cryptographic hash from each prior hash, are each built in response to each subsequent controlled-environment facility transaction with respect to the resident, and the ledger is updated to reflect each subsequent transaction, and associate each subsequent new hash with the respective subsequent transaction, both with respect to the resident.

  • Patent number: 10713872
Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling access to controlled-environment facility visitations enable and accept requests for visitations with residents of the controlled-environment facility and enable and accept scheduling of visitations with residents of the controlled-environment facility. A matrix barcode is assigned to each scheduled visitation in accordance with such systems and methods, and the resultingly assigned matrix barcode is provided to at least a non-resident taking part in a respective scheduled visitation, and in some implementations, to the resident. The visitation proceeds between the resident scheduled to take part in the scheduled visitation and the non-resident in response to confirmation that the non-resident, and in applicable implementations, the resident, is in possession of the assigned matrix barcode.

  • Patent number: 9922048
Abstract: Embodiments use pictures of detainees and automatically scan image databases to detect when a detainee has a criminal record and to alert controlled-environment facility personnel to that record. A picture of the detainee is captured during booking or at another time. The picture is compared to a database of images of individuals with criminal records. If the picture matches an existing image in the database, then information associated with the matching image is provided to the controlled-environment facility personnel. The information is analyzed to identify key issues, such as active warrants. The controlled-environment facility personnel are alerted to any such key information.

  • Patent number: 7058163
Abstract: For use with an automated call placement system (ACP) having a switching service unit (SSU), a call monitoring unit capable of monitoring a selected one of lines coupled to the switching service unit and a method of making a recording of a conversation occurring on a selected one of lines coupled to the switching service unit. In one embodiment, the system includes: (1) an analog or digital recorder, coupled to the call monitoring unit, that monitors a call carried on the selected one of the lines and creates a recording of the call on a storage medium associated therewith, the storage medium being of finite capacity thereby causing the recording to be subject to eventual overwriting and (2) a recorder controller, coupled to the recorder, that audibly reproduces the call to a user in real time and allows the user to preserve the recording to delay or prevent the overwriting.

  • Patent number: 6647096
Abstract: A system and method for remotely controlling the call monitoring functions performed by an automated call placement system (ACP) and an ACP incorporating the system or the method. In one embodiment, the system includes: (1) a controller, coupled to the call monitoring unit and having a single wire pair interface, that transmits traffic carried on the selected one of the lines via the interface, transmits function menus via the interface, receives in-band control commands via the interface and controls functions of the call monitoring unit in response thereto and (2) an in-band data-capable device having a display, coupled to the interface via a single wire pair, that receives and audibly reproduces the traffic, displays the function menus on the display and transmits the in-band control commands to the controller thereby to control the call monitoring unit.
