  • Patent number: 6729203
Abstract: A shifting device including first and second shift control members, a takeup element, a holding member, and a release member. The takeup element configured for winding and unwinding a tensioned control cable. The first control member is rotatable about a handlebar and configured to rotate the takeup to at least pull or wind the control cable onto the takeup. The second control member is a return-to-neutral member for rotating the takeup to release the. The holding member is rotatable with the takeup and retains the takeup in select angular positions. The release member is operable for disengaging the holding member in response to the actuation or return stroke of the second control member for allowing the takeup to unwind the cable a sufficient amount to enable a single gear shift.

  • Publication number: 20030209820
Abstract: A method for making ferrite powder may include providing ferrite feed materials in a form of particles having different sizes and irregular shapes, and exposing the ferrite feed materials to a plasma to provide a more spherical shape to irregularly shaped particles to thereby make the ferrite powder. An apparatus for making ferrite powder may include a feeder for ferrite feed materials and a plasma generator for exposing the ferrite feed materials to a plasma.

  • Publication number: 20030008131
Abstract: A method for making a radiation absorbing material (RAM) coating may include providing an iron-silicon alloy powder, forming the iron-silicon alloy powder into flakes, and passivating the flakes. The method may further include selecting passivated flakes having a desired size, and combining the selected passivated flakes with a carrier to provide the RAM coating. The coating may be applied to a substrate to impart the radiation absorbing property thereto.

  • Patent number: 5422216
Abstract: A method for preparing the carrier for a developer composition is provided. The method comprises subjecting a ferric oxide and a metal oxide to conditions sufficient to form a ferrite have a spinel structure, mixing the ferrite having a spinel structure with a sintering agent, and sintering in the liquid phase the mixture at temperature conditions of less than about 1375.degree. C. to provide a ferrite carrier devoid of zinc, copper, or nickel in its crystal structure. The ferrite carrier cab be used in a developer composition comprising the ferrite carrier and a toner composition.
