Patent number: 8655486Abstract: Systems and methods for managing canisters used to automatically dispense medication are provided. Canisters are configurable via a design process and a build process to accurately dispense a variety of medications. Design profiles are created and stored by a canister management system, and are federated to workstations used to build and fill the canisters, and to workstations used to dispense the medication. Information related to the build process, the fill process, and the dispense process is also federated by the system. The system also enables the transmission of other types of messages between client applications on the workstations and the canister management system. The system is useful to federate data regardless of a structure of a supply chain used to design, build, distribute, and use the canisters.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2011Date of Patent: February 18, 2014Assignee: Talyst Inc.Inventors: Ron Sanders, Harpreet Singh, Frank Mckeown, Paul Richardson, John M. Manning, Darcy O. Clarke

Patent number: 8464899Abstract: The present disclosure provides a collection device having a base with at least first and second openings and at least first and second collector tubes in communication with the at least first and second openings in the base. The collector tubes each have a curvature configured to define a trajectory path for an object descending in the collector tube toward a common target region below the collection device. The collector tubes are configured to be placed into communication with corresponding unique transport tubes/channels/paths, etc., originating at a singulating device.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 2008Date of Patent: June 18, 2013Assignee: Talyst Inc.Inventors: Darcy O. Clarke, Geoffrey H. Wathen

Patent number: 8196774Abstract: A remote pharmaceutical dispensing system for automatically dispensing medication includes a plurality of packets each containing at least one type of medication for a predetermined hour of administration (HOA). The system also includes at least one cartridge having a housing and a feed mechanism disposed within the housing for advancing at least one of the plurality of packets toward an opening in the cartridge housing. The system further includes a dispenser having a dispenser housing configured to receive the at least one cartridge and a motor that is drivably engageable with the feed mechanism of the cartridge when the cartridge is inserted into the dispenser. The system also includes a controller in operable communication with the motor and configured to actuate the motor to advance at least one of the plurality of packets toward an opening in the dispenser housing at the predetermined HOA.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2009Date of Patent: June 12, 2012Assignee: Talyst Inc.Inventors: Darcy O. Clarke, James E. Torina

Patent number: 7802671Abstract: An auto-feed assembly (102) for selectively transporting containers to a marking apparatus (100) is provided. The marking apparatus (100) includes a marking device for selectively applying a mark to a container (103). The auto-feed assembly includes a staging assembly (104) for processing a plurality of containers and a singulator assembly (112) in communication with the staging assembly (104) for isolating at least one container (103) from the plurality of containers. The auto-feed assembly (102) further includes a shuttle (210) disposed between the singulator assembly (112) and a portion of the marking apparatus (100), wherein the shuttle (210) is adapted for transporting the at least one container (103) to the portion of the marking apparatus (100).Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 2007Date of Patent: September 28, 2010Assignee: Talyst Inc.Inventors: Darcy O. Clarke, James E. Torina, Joel Butt, Glenn Eastman, Stephen Pawlawski

Patent number: 7779988Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method of delivering a container (103) to a marking apparatus (100), wherein the marking apparatus (100) is of the type having a marking device for selectively applying a mark to a container (103). The method comprises providing a plurality of containers within a staging assembly (104), and isolating at least one container (103) within a singulator assembly (112), wherein the singulator assembly (112) is in communication with the staging assembly (104). The method further comprises transporting the at least one container (103) from the singulator assembly (112) to a portion of the marking apparatus (100) with a shuttle (210).Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 2007Date of Patent: August 24, 2010Assignee: Talyst Inc.Inventors: Darcy O. Patent number: 7676299Abstract: The present disclosure provides a medication dispenser having a refrigerated compartment and a plurality of access doors that provide access to a limited portion of the refrigerated compartment. A plurality of turntables are rotatably disposed within the refrigerated compartment. The turntables receive at least one medication in a predetermined location, and each turntable aligns with an access door. The dispenser further includes a computer system that receives input selecting a first medication to be dispensed and outputs a first signal in response to the input. A controller is operably coupled to the refrigerated compartment and receives the first signal from the computer system. The controller outputs a second signal to rotate a turntable such that the first medication is positioned adjacent an access door, and the controller outputs a third signal to unlock the adjacent access door.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 2007Date of Patent: March 9, 2010Assignee: Talyst Inc.Inventors: Darcy O. Clarke, James E. Torina
