Patent number: 10216266Abstract: Systems and methods are provided that allow a user to interact with a device using gaze detection. In the provided systems and methods, the gaze detection is initiated by detecting a triggering event. Once gaze detection has been initiated, detecting a gaze of a user may allow the user to activate a display component of the device, pass a security challenge on the device, and view content and alerts on the device. The gaze detection may continue looking for the user's gaze and keep the display component of the device activated as long as a gaze is detected, but may deactivate the display component of the device once a gaze is no longer detected. To conserve power the gaze detection may also be deactivated until another triggering event is detected.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2013Date of Patent: February 26, 2019Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Darrell L. Krulce, Francis B. MacDougall, Shaun W. Van Dyken

Publication number: 20140267142Abstract: Systems and methods according to one or more embodiments of the present disclosure are provided for seamlessly extending interactive inputs. In an embodiment, a method comprises detecting with a first sensor at least a portion of an input by a control object. The method also comprises determining that the control object is positioned in a transition area. The method further comprises determining whether to detect a subsequent portion of the input with a second sensor based at least in part on the determination that the control object is positioned in the transition area.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 15, 2013Publication date: September 18, 2014Applicant: QUALCOMM INCORPORATEDInventors: Francis B. Patent number: 8762732Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing password security to an electronic device. Access rights to an electronic device are determined by decrypting and decoding an encrypted password given to one or more individuals. When an individual enters a given encrypted password into the electronic device, a decrypting function decrypts the password to generate an decrypted password. The decrypted password contains information as to whether access should be granted to the individual, and if so, to what extent. For example, the decrypted password may comprise a time and date field which indicates a date and time at which access will not be granted.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2012Date of Patent: June 24, 2014Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventor: Darrell L. Patent number: 8286463Abstract: A system for correcting angular velocity measurements from a gyroscope and using the corrected angular velocity measurements to position an antenna used with a vehicle. The system determines an approximate null point voltage of a gyroscope of the type that produces a voltage related to an angular velocity to be measured by the gyroscope. The approximate null point is determined by sampling the output voltage to obtain a plurality of sampled voltages and choosing an approximate mode of the plurality of sampled voltages as the approximate null point voltage.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2007Date of Patent: October 16, 2012Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Darrell L.
