Abstract: A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture for a filter table list utility. Information is displayed on a monitor attached to a computer. An open database window is displayed in which search criteria is entered for searching for tables. A search is performed for tables using the entered search criteria, prior to retrieving names of all of the tables to display on the monitor. When tables are found that meet the search criteria, a list of the found tables is generated for displaying on the monitor. The generated list is displayed on the monitor.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system for resolving multi-authoring conflicts that result when multiple users at client computers on a network computer system read and write to the same network file comprised of a plurality of objects. A first client computer downloads a network file from a network drive and creates and edits a client version of the network file on the first client computer. A second client computer downloads the same network file from the network drive. To determine whether there is a conflict between modifications made by the second client computer to the network file and editing to objects in the client version by the first client computer, a determination is made as to whether the network file was modified by the second client computer while the first client computer was editing the client version.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture which provides for the display of database management information on a computer in a user-friendly way to minimize errors and maximize database usership. The invention displays a window in a graphical user interface on a computer display. The window allows the user to enter database tables, fields, and database commands selected from a displayed menu. The window also displays a natural language translation of the current status of the database command, allowing the user to see, in real time, the scope of the request and the databases affected.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture which provides for visually depicting join relationships in a database management system. The method comprises the steps of visually depicting join relationships on a monitor coupled to a computer and receiving a join command from a user input device into the computer, wherein the join command selectively chooses a join relationship. The join relationships are visually depicted in a window displaying matching records in a first table joined to matching records in a second table, all records in a first table joined to matching records in a second table, and matching records in a first table joined to all records in a second table.
