  • Patent number: 10478381
Abstract: A medical solution packaging assembly comprising a medical solution container that houses a medical solution comprising a semi-permeable material including one or more surface that is at least partially permeable to air molecules and has low permeability to vapor molecules of the medical solution, wherein the medical solution container is configured to inflate beyond its original volume. The assembly further comprising a packaging comprising one or more surface within which the solution container resides; a compressing mechanism configured to apply external force onto at least one surface of the medical solution container or limit the volume to which the medical solution container inflates, wherein a volume of air ingress from an external environment of the medical solution container is less than that which would occur without the compressing mechanism.

  • Patent number: 9399113
Abstract: A method is provided for making a tubing, which includes forming a generally tubular inner layer by flowing a first material through an extrusion assembly. At least one non-tubular segment is formed along the length of the tubing by flowing a second material through the extrusion assembly. A generally tubular outer layer coaxial with the inner layer is formed by flowing a third material through the extrusion assembly. The segment is positioned between the inner and outer layers and oriented non-tangentially with an interface between the inner and outer layers. The resulting tubing, which may be suitable for medical applications, may have kink-resistant properties.

  • Patent number: 9347540
Abstract: A drive assembly for a centrifugal processing system is provided for rotating the yoke assembly (36) about a first axis at a first angular velocity and rotating the chamber assembly (30) coaxially with the yoke assembly at a second angular velocity A drive motor (60) is provided for rotating the yoke assembly at the first angular velocity A stationary gear (70) is mounted coaxially with the yoke assembly, with a drive linkage (72) comprising a shaft (74) secured to the yoke assembly so as to be rotatable therewith. The shaft is operatively connected on its first end to the stationary gear (70), so that the shaft rotates about its axis as the yoke assembly (36) rotates relative to the stationary gear. The shaft (74) is rotatably connected on its second end to the chamber assembly (30), so that when the shaft is rotated, the shaft rotates the chamber assembly.
