Abstract: Systems and methods to automatically upgrade, or update a synchronization client to a cloud-based platform are provided. The automatic upgrading can be provided to a personal or an enterprise-level synchronization client. The synchronization client is implemented in a manner that is silent, secure and fault tolerant. In one embodiment, the disclosed technology includes an executable process to download the update, verify the contents, and apply the update. The contents can be verified by checking the certificate on any binary. The systems and methods further include identification and handling of items to be ignored by the synchronization client for synchronization with a cloud-based platform. In some embodiments, files and folders which typically should not be synchronized are identified and removed from the synchronization process in an effective manner.

The disclosed technology innovates the mechanism the synchronization client processes local deletes so that instead of synchronizing the delete of each individual item across to the cloud-based platform, it can accumulate the individual item deletes into a top-level folder delete and that top-level folder delete can be what is communicated across to the cloud-based platform. Embodiments of the present disclosure also include systems and methods for depicting item synchronization between a local and cloud based platform/service (e.g. the Box service). In some embodiments the system can identify items that cannot be synchronized between the local and cloud based platform/service (e.g., cloud based collaboration or storage platform/service).

One embodiment of the disclosed technology detects conflicts between incompatible changes made on opposite file systems based on file system sync results when executing a sync event on the file system. In one embodiment, the disclosed technology applies self-healing strategies when unexpected failures occur. For example, if a synchronization action fails repeatedly, an external action (e.g., from user, file system, etc.) can return the system back to a consistent state again.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure include systems and methods for implementing an Iconizer in a cloud-based platform such as cloud based platform (e.g., cloud-based collaboration platform or cloud-based platform providing collaborative and/or file sharing services). The iconizer can facilitate the display on a graphical user interface (GUI) of certain features of the storage operation and synchronization to a user. Some embodiments contemplate methods for representing Unicode text in the file system operations in either Normal Form Composed (NFC) or Normal Form Decomposed (NFD). Various disclosed embodiments facilitate operations using either or both formats, or a combination of the two.

Abstract: Blending of a video feed with a primary feed is described which allows a viewer to focus on a shared computer desktop space represented by a primary feed while also observing the video feed. Primary subject matter is generated from the raw feeds of both the video feed, resulting in a camera feed, and the primary feed to reduce unnecessary portions of the video feed and/or the primary feed. A transparency value of at least one of the camera feed or primary feed is adjusted before the two feeds are blended together in a composite view. By adjusting the transparency level, a more effective visual presentation and user experience is created.

Abstract: A system and method for achieving high speed modulation of semi-conductor devices, such as VCSELs, utilizing field effect to confine a signal path is described. In semi-conductor devices operating at high data rates the configuration of connector rails and signal paths can become a limiting factor. Thc present invention provides an arrangement in which the signal return path is confined relative to the energizing signal path by a field effect in a common conductor extending under the signal path.
