  • Patent number: 11155896
Abstract: A process is divulged for the recovery of lithium from metallurgic slags comprising the steps of roasting spodumene to convert it from the alpha to the beta variant; reacting the beta variant with sulfuric acid, using a stoichiometric excess of acid; repulping the reaction product with water, forming an acidic slurry; neutralizing the acidic slurry to a pH between 5 and 7, by addition of at least one neutralizing agent; filtrating the neutralized slurry, thereby obtaining a lithium bearing solution and a residue; characterized that, in either one or both of the steps of repulping and neutralizing the acidic slurry, lithium-bearing metallurgic slag is added as neutralization agent. The lithium-bearing metallurgic slag is used to substitute at least part of the classic neutralizing agent. The lithium in the slag is released, and added to the lithium liberated from the spodumene.

  • Publication number: 20210123119
Abstract: The present invention relates to an enhanced process for the recovery of lithium from compositions also containing aluminum. An example of such a metallurgical compositions is the metallurgical slag that is obtained when recycling lithium-ion batteries or their derived products using a pyrometallurgical smelting process. Acid leaching of such a slag, followed by neutralization to precipitate aluminum leads to poor lithium yields as lithium tends to co-precipitate with aluminum. A process is presented wherein aluminum is selectively precipitated using a source of phosphate at a controlled pH preferably between 3 and 4.

  • Patent number: 10227118
Abstract: A buoyant apparatus and method of use buoyancy to offset the weight of a load during immersion of the load in a fluid medium such as a payload manipulated by a cable and crane or by a remotely operated undersea vehicle. Buoyancy modules that can be of different size and shape have elongated supports that are attachable via complementary connection fixtures at the ends. The attached supports form a skeleton of the array. The connection fixtures are axially resiliently compressible and maintain the buoyancy modules in abutment notwithstanding shrinkage or expansion of the buoyant material due to hydrostatic pressure that increases with depth.

  • Publication number: 20110284594
Abstract: A continuous dispensing actuator assembly having a mounting cup, an actuator, an overcap and a locking adaptor provides for automatic discharge of the contents of a pressurized container. The mounting cup secures to an open end of the pressurized container and has a valve biased into a normally extended closed position with an extending valve stem. The overcap includes a base portion affixed to the mounting cup, an orientation tab slidably residing within the slot in the actuator to prevent rotational movement of the actuator, a locking mechanism and a slot in the locking mechanism sized to allow passage of the actuator cam post.
