  • Patent number: 5467564
Abstract: An apparatus designed to capture and direct daylight to a target area in a building or other structure. A housing provides an aperture and passive directing structure which directs daylight entering the apertures towards the target area. The passive directing structure can also direct daylight towards reflecting surfaces in the housing which, in turn, direct the daylight towards the target area.

    Assignee: Andersen Corporation
Inventors: Dawn DeKeyser, Loren Abraham, David A. Eijadi
  • Patent number: 4593976
Abstract: A solar concentrator having a stationary reflective collector (20) located to view the sky and reflect solar energy to a stationary reflective reflector (30) positioned to receive such reflected energy and reflect the energy toward a target within a structure through a side wall (19). A low angle shield (32) prevents most direct rays from entering, unreflected, into a work space inside the structure and a shield (36) prevents solar energy, reflected by the collector (20) and the reflector (30) from penetrating a plane (38) space above the floor a distance generally equal to the height of the eye of an occupant standing on the floor of the structure.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 22, 1985
Date of Patent: June 10, 1986
Assignee: Bennett, Ringrose, Wolsfeld, Jarvis, Gardner, Inc.
Inventors: David A. Eijadi, David J. Bennett
  • Patent number: 4329021
Abstract: A passive solar lighting system is disclosed. A multiplyer lens (20) located within an aperture (12) in a building (10) increases the cone of light acceptance which would result in the absence of lens (20). Light passing through lens (20) is further refracted by lenses (22, 24) and the resultant light is thereby directed to a target area (14) for interior lighting.
