  • Patent number: 12070597
Abstract: An efficient nanoscale semiconducting optoelectronic system, containing a P/N acceptor donor organic hetrojunction which is optimized for neuronal stimulation—an organic electrolytic photocapacitor. The devices comprise a thin (80 nm) trilayer of metal and p-n semiconducting organic nanocrystals. When illuminated in physiological solution, these metal-semiconductor devices charge up, transducing light pulses into localized displacement currents that are strong enough to electrically stimulate neurons with safe light intensities.

  • Patent number: 12072440
Abstract: An identification system includes a radar sensor configured to generate a time-domain or frequency-domain signal representative of electromagnetic waves reflected from one or more objects within a three-dimensional space over a period of time and a computation engine executing on one or more processors. The computation engine is configured to process the time-domain or frequency-domain signal to generate range and velocity data indicating motion by a living subject within the three-dimensional space. The computation engine is further configured to identify, based at least on the range and velocity data indicating the motion by the living subject, the living subject and output an indication of an identity of the living subject.

  • Patent number: 7367072
Abstract: A device for elevating a sleeper's pillow to allow an arm to be comfortably placed between the pillow and mattress includes an elliptical padded disc having a predetermined thickness. The disc is preferably encapsulated with a removable cover allowing both the disc and cover to be cleaned. Accordingly, when the device is placed beneath a sleeper's pillow, the pillow is elevated allowing a sleeper to comfortably place an arm between the pillow and mattress.

  • Patent number: 5673304
Abstract: A programmable emergency communication system for dialing an emergency number, such as a number for a central station, a 911 exchange, or third parties, permits voice-to-voice communication between a home system and the called number. The home system automatically dials one of the stored telephone numbers in response to a signal from a hand held medallion, a signal from a sip/puff switch, a signal from a paddle switch, a signal from a smoke detector, or a signal from a front panel of the home system. The home system reports emergency signals and also reports non-emergency signals, such as a low battery condition, to the central station. The home system has many options which may be programmed to suit the particular desires of the user. The home system may be programmed by any telephone which has access to the telephone line to which the home system is connected.

  • Patent number: 5395243
Abstract: An interactive learning system used for learning an application program, such as a word processing program, provides three basic types of instruction including interactive audiovisual lessons, reference information, and practice in using the actual application program being learned. The reference information may include relatively detailed reference information, relatively brief reference information, and customized reference information generated via an electronic clipboard. The subject matter of the application program is subdivided into different subject matter areas or units, and the user of the system may select to receive lessons relating to any of the units. The interactive learning system provides three learning paths, one of which comprises completing all of the lessons in a unit and then using the features of the actual application program relating to the unit that was just completed to reinforce the instruction received by the user.

  • Patent number: 4495383
Abstract: An apparatus for interfacing a speaker phone with a telephone network includes switch means for selectively connecting said interfacing apparatus with a telephone network to permit either conventional or automatic answering. A coupler, responsive to ringing signals on the telephone lines discharges a charging capacitor to a level sufficient to cause the automatic, hands-free interconnection of the speaker phone with the telephone line. In one embodiment, a timer is provided for limiting the length of time during which the speaker phone is coupled to the telephone line. A reset switch is provided in cooperation with the timer to permit the timing cycle to be reset upon command, thereby to shorten the time of connection if desired. The system operates in either a timed or extended mode. To bypass the timer and indefinitely extend the time during which the answered call is coupled between the telephone lines and the speaker phone, an extend switch is also provided to override the timer.
