Publication number: 20240103645Abstract: A computer input system includes a mouse including a housing having an interior surface defining an internal volume and a sensor assembly disposed in the internal volume. A processor is electrically coupled to the sensor assembly and a memory component having electronic instructions stored thereon that, when executed by the processor, causes the processor to determine an orientation of the mouse relative to a hand based on a touch input from the hand detected by the sensor assembly. The mouse can also have a circular array of touch sensors or lights that detect hand position and provide orientation information to the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 21, 2023Publication date: March 28, 2024Inventors: Bart K. Patent number: 8202401Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes moving a first volume of fluid from a region above a heat-transfer element to a region below the heat-transfer element after the first volume of fluid is boiled from a second volume of fluid within the region above the heat-transfer element. The first volume of fluid including an impurity concentration lower than an impurity concentration of the second volume of fluid. The region below the heat-transfer element has a temperature higher than a temperature of the region above the heat-transfer element. The method also includes transferring latent heat from the first volume of fluid to a third volume of fluid on a top surface of the heat transfer element. The latent heat is released when the first volume of fluid condenses.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2007Date of Patent: June 19, 2012Assignee: Hydrologic Industries, Inc.Inventors: David B. Patent number: 5621979Abstract: A drive attachment device (10), particularly adapted to receive and transmit drive to the handle (31) of a paint brush (30) comprises a body (11) having a socket (12) for receiving the end of a paint brush, and resilient retaining means in the form of tension springs (17) mounted on pegs (16) to span an opening (18) through which the handle (31) of the paint brush (30) is introduced when being fitted to the device. The tension springs exert sufficient force on the paint brush handle both to retain it in position against axial displacement and to transmit rotation when the body (10) is rotated.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 1995Date of Patent: April 22, 1997Inventor: David B. Patent number: 4889959Abstract: The connection and shielding system for modular RF circuits encases modular circuitboards (10) within five-sided enclosures (11). The sixth side of each enclosure is provided by the top ground plane of a base circuitboard (20) that supports and electrically interconnects the components of the modular circuitboards (10). Enclosures (11) are fixed to a grounded metal socket formed by fence strips (22) and metal inserts (23) which form upwardly open slots including yieldable longitudinal gaskets (50). Gaskets (50) yieldably grip the open end of enclosures (11) and seal them against escaping radiation. Further radiation shielding is provided about the base circuitboard (20) by the fact that the conductive signal traces provided in it are sandwiched between two continuous ground planes and run between plated-through vias joining the ground planes. The ends of each enclosure are provided with double wall baffles (17, 18) which provide airflow to the interior and RFI shielding through offset open apertures (13).Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1988Date of Patent: December 26, 1989Assignee: Hewlett-Packard CompanyInventors: David B. Taylor, Steven C. Zemke

Patent number: 4284192Abstract: This invention relates to a chain conveyor wherein the tension of the chain or chains thereof is controlled by a closed-loop servo system. The servo-system includes an electrically-operable servo-device. An electrical signal dependent on the torque of an electric motor driving the conveyor is applied to the servo-device for operation thereof to control a piston-and-cylinder device which is adapted to alter the distance between a chain-driving sprocket and another sprocket of the conveyor. The arrangement controls the tension of the or each chain at the point where the chain is just leaving the circumference of the first-mentioned sprocket, maintaining the tension at a constant value which may be near to zero under all conditions of operation.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1979Date of Patent: August 18, 1981Assignee: Dowty Meco LimitedInventor: David B. Patent number: 4196797Abstract: A braking apparatus for a rotary shaft connected to a load comprising brake shoe means for the shaft capable of limited angular movement about the shaft axis to cause release of the brake shoe means from a brake applied condition during application of starting torque to the shaft, and stop means operable during application of the brake shoe means to bring the shaft to rest, for preventing or reducing said limited angular movement. In this way the limited angular movement is eliminated during braking of the shaft to bring it to rest, whereby to provide substantially smooth braking, particularly when the shaft is operative on a load such as a conveyor having a long conveying belt.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 1978Date of Patent: April 8, 1980Assignee: Dowty Meco LimitedInventor: David B.
