  • Publication number: 20230398764
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to thermoplastics film, multi-film structures, and bags including enhanced physical properties. For example, one or more implementations include tailoring the physical properties of thermoplastic films by forming raised rib-like elements in the films that extend at an angle relative to a direction in which the film is extruded (e.g., the machine direction). In other words, one or more implementations include films with a pattern of raised rib-like elements extending at an acute angle to the predominate direction of molecular orientation of the thermoplastic film. The angled raised rib-like elements increase the machine direction tear resistance of the thermoplastic film by intersecting any machine direction propagating tears and redirecting the tears towards the higher tear resistant transverse direction.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to thermoplastics film, multi-film structures, and bags including enhanced physical properties. For example, one or more implementations include tailoring the physical properties of thermoplastic films by forming ribs using ring rolling in the films that extend at an angle relative to a direction in which the film is extruded (e.g., the machine direction). In other words, one or more implementations include films with a pattern of ribs extending at an acute angle to the predominate direction of molecular orientation of the thermoplastic film. The angled ribs increase the machine direction tear resistance of the thermoplastic film by intersecting any machine direction propagating tears and redirecting the tears towards the higher tear resistant transverse direction.

  • Publication number: 20230368634
Abstract: A wear indicator system may include a switch assembly having a housing, a wear indicator circuit, and an actuator assembly. The housing may connect to a collector shoe assembly having a collector shoe that slides in contact along a conductor bar of a conductor bar assembly, for transferring electrical power between the collector shoe and the conductor bar. The wear indicator circuit may include a communication unit and a switch unit. The actuator assembly may be operably coupled to the housing and to the switch unit and may track along the conductor bar assembly when the collector shoe assembly moves and may contact the conductor bar assembly to depress to a position to activate the switch unit responsive to the collector shoe reaching a designated wear level. The communication unit may communicate a signal indicative of the designated wear level responsive to the switch unit being activated.

  • Publication number: 20230356887
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a fiber reinforced thermoplastic bag (e.g., comprising a bag-in-bag). In one or more embodiments, the reinforced thermoplastic bag includes a plurality of fibers reinforcing a top-of-bag area where users often apply an external force to lift or carry the reinforced thermoplastic bag. In certain embodiments, the plurality of fibers is positioned across at least a portion of a grab-zone. Additionally or alternatively, the plurality of fibers reinforces a hem channel region. In particular embodiments, the plurality of fibers is positioned in between bag layers. For example, the plurality of fibers is sandwiched between an inner layer and an outer layer. In certain implementations, the plurality of fibers between layers is bonded to a particular layer, but not necessarily both layers. Additionally, the plurality of fibers can impart a variety of mechanical benefits. Further, the plurality of fibers is visually identifiable through one or both layers.

  • Publication number: 20220219864
Abstract: One or more implementations of a multi-film thermoplastic bag with a conjoined hem channel. For example, the multi-film thermoplastic bag includes a multi-film hem channel. Bonds secure the layers of the hem channel together so as to prevent a drawtape from inverting or bunching an inner layer of the hem channel during cinching. The bonds are thus located in a hem channel of a multi-film thermoplastic bag so as to reduce an amount of mechanical engagement between the films of the multi-film thermoplastic bag and another thermoplastic film such as a drawtape. In one or more implementations, a grab zone of the multi-film thermoplastic bag also includes bonds in the form of contact areas to provide tactile and visual cues of strength in the grab zone.
