Abstract: A system for the therapeutic application of energy to a patient includes a primary unit that has a first generator for generating a first form of energy for therapeutic application to a patient. The primary unit also has a first outlet jack that is operatively connected to the first generator and adapted to receive a first therapeutic applicator, and a module receiver for receiving an upgrade module for enhancing the operation of the system. The system also includes a first therapeutic applicator for use in applying the first form of energy to a patient. The first therapeutic applicator is adapted to be operatively connected to the first generator through the first outlet jack. A preferred embodiment of the invention includes a first generator protocol operational mechanism that is operatively connected to the first generator and adapted to configure the operational parameters of the first generator.
