  • Publication number: 20240108467
Abstract: Delivery apparatus and methods for delivering a medical device into a patient's vasculature are disclosed. In some examples, a method includes inserting, into a patient, a distal end portion of a delivery apparatus including a radially compressed prosthetic valve mounted around a balloon, advancing the distal end through the patient's vasculature, and inflating the balloon to radially expand the prosthetic valve at a native heart valve. The delivery apparatus includes a handle, a first shaft and a second shaft extending from the handle, and a locking mechanism to prevent axial movement of the second shaft relative to first shaft. The second shaft extends coaxially through the first shaft and includes the balloon, the radially compressed prosthetic valve, and one or more radiopaque markers at a distal end portion. The first shaft includes an end piece covering a proximal portion of the balloon during the advancing of the delivery apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20240099839
Abstract: A delivery apparatus for a prosthetic heart valve includes a shaft, an inner balloon, and an outer balloon. The shaft has a lumen extending from a proximal end portion to a distal end portion and a plurality of openings formed in the distal end portion. The shaft is configured such that a fluid can flow through the lumen and the openings. The inner balloon has end portions and a center portion disposed between the end portions. The inner balloon is mounted on the distal end portion of the shaft and is in fluid communication with the openings of the shaft. When the inner balloon is inflated with the fluid, the end portions expand farther radially outwardly than the center portion. The outer balloon is mounted to the shaft and disposed over the inner balloon. The outer balloon is configured to fully expand after the inner balloon at least partially expands.

  • Patent number: 5855730
Abstract: A glue actuator mounting assembly adapted to mount to a folder apparatus has individual opposed guide strips forming a sheet path and glue actuators slidably mounted across the sheet path, such that individual actuators may be moved and repositioned laterally, and guide strips may be positioned to allow each glue actuator, regardless of lateral position, to have access to a sheet moving in the sheet path. In a preferred embodiment a stop bar is included having extendable tabs for extending between guide strips and forming a stop for sheets moving in the sheet path. In a preferred embodiment the actuators are mounted on slide rods that engage open slots in a carriage of the actuator mounting assembly such that the rods carrying the actuators, along with the actuators, may be lifted off the actuator mounting assembly.

  • Patent number: 5506928
Abstract: The apparatus uses a gripper mounted on a moveable arm to pick up an optical fiber at a pickup location, with the free end of the optical fiber extending from the gripper. The arm is moved to position the free end generally in the region of the target location, but slightly displaced therefrom. An image of the region of the target location is obtained from a camera directed to receive the image, where the region is backlit by diffused light from a light source. Where the target is a component on a translucent substrate, the substrate may act as the diffuser for the light source. The image from the camera is analyzed to determine the position of the free end in relation to the target location, and the arm is moved to accurately position the free end at the target location based on the determination of relative positions. The gripper has a downwardly-opening inverted V-shaped groove running longitudinally, to which a vacuum is supplied.

  • Patent number: 4921734
Abstract: Cylinder liners for internal combustion engines, particularly diesel engines, are described the liners comprising a metal outer sleeve having therein an inner sleeve comprising a ceramic material which is held by compressive hoop stresses under all normal engine operating conditions, the inner sleeve extending over at least a part of the axial length of the liner. In a preferred embodiment the inner sleeve comprises a composite material of two different ceramic materials. For example an inner sleeve is described having a silicon nitride working surface with a layer of partially stabilized zirconia thereon.

  • Patent number: 4223935
Abstract: The invention relates to a tool for lifting a component such as a building block and comprises a support having a contiguous lower abutment surface, a plurality of engaging members extending beneath the support and adapted to be entered into a recess in the component, at least one of the members being movable and a handle means movable with respect to the support and operatively connected with the movable engaging member, so that on lifting the handle the engaging members engage the adjacent wall of the recess with a force proportional to the weight of the component.

  • Patent number: 4134141
Abstract: A recording and reproducing machine in which electrical signals are recorded on a recording medium while the medium is driven forwardly along a predetermined path. Recording and reproducing means are switched between record and reproducing modes. Detecting means are associated with means for switching electrical connections in the machine between record and reproducing modes. The detecting means assume a predetermined condition when the end of the last recorded signal on the recording medium is adjacent to the recording and reproducing means. The driving means can then be operated to drive the medium forwardly only if the switching means are in the record mode.
