Patent number: 11949164Abstract: Register banks are used to allow for fast beam switching in a phased array system. Each beam forming channel is associated with a register bank containing M register sets for configuring such things as gain/amplitude and phase parameters of the beam forming channel. The register banks for all beam forming channels can be pre-programmed and then fast beam switching circuitry allows all beam forming channels across the array to be switched to use the same register set from its corresponding register bank at substantially the same time, thereby allowing the phased array system to be quickly switched between various beam patterns and orientations. Active power control circuitry may be used to control the amount of electrical power provided to or consumed by one or more individual beam forming channels such as to reduce DC power consumption of the array and/or to selectively change the effective directivity of the array.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 2023Date of Patent: April 2, 2024Assignee: Anokiwave, Inc.Inventors: Kristian N. Madsen, Wade C. Allen, Jonathan P. Comeau, Robert J. McMorrow, David W. Corman, Nitin Jain, Robert Ian Gresham, Gaurav Menon, Vipul Jain

Patent number: 5853377Abstract: A system and a method are provided for monitoring a patient. The system receives information relating to weight and/or LBM of a patient as well as other clinical and medical variable may be input relating to the patient. Warning levels or alert levels are input to the system such that a patient or clinician is immediately notified upon the patient reaching such levels. The system provides local transmission to a patient or remote transmission to, for example, a clinician of the patient or the like. The system and method are particularly useful for patients with chronic disease such that the dynamic nutritional status may be closely monitored and analyzed and ultimately addressed when significant changes occur.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 1997Date of Patent: December 29, 1998Assignee: Nestec S.A.Inventors: David C. Madsen, Chris Kruzel, Susan Trimbo, Theresa Voss, Kathryn Hennessy, Carol Siegel, Hugh N. Tucker

Patent number: 5378722Abstract: A nutritional composition is provided that is low ammoniagenic, scavenges ammonia well, and yet does not contribute to excess nitric oxide production. The nutritional composition includes an amino acid profile having less than 20 percent of the total amino acids as ammoniagenic amino acids. The nutritional composition also includes less than 0.2 percent of the total amino acids as arginine and at least 0.2 percent of the total amino acids as ornithine and/citrulline.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1993Date of Patent: January 3, 1995Assignee: Clintec Nutrition Co.Inventors: David C. Madsen, David Mark

Patent number: 5189016Abstract: The present invention relates to nutrient compositions containing dipeptides and methods for administering the same. In particular, according to the present invention, a nutrient composition comprising an aqueous solution having at least one dipeptide with an N-terminal amino acid selected from the class consisting of glutamine, asparagine, tyrosine, tryptophan, and aspargine is provided. Glutamine (4.8 grams/100 ml at 30.degree. C.), asparagine (3.5 grams/100 mL at 28.degree. C.), tyrosine (0.45 grams/100 mL at 25.degree. C.) and tryptophan (11.4 grams/100 mL at 25.degree. C.) and arginine (15.0 grams/100 mL at 21.degree. C.) are all less soluble in water than glycine (25 grams/100 mL at 25.degree. C.). The C-terminal amino acid is selected from the group consisting of alanine, glycine, tryptophan, arginine, proline and serine. The nutritional solutions contain from about 0.1 to 25.0 percent by weight of oligopeptides, preferably about 0.5 to 5.0 percent by weight.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 1990Date of Patent: February 23, 1993Assignee: Clintec Nutrition Co.Inventors: David C. Madsen, W. Bruce Rowe

Patent number: 5095027Abstract: The present invention provides a method for treating and/or reducing ischemic reperfusion injury. To this end, in embodiment, a method for treating and/or reducing reperfusion injury is provided comprising the step of administering to a patient in danger of reperfusion injury a therapeutically effective amount of L-2-oxothiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid. In an embodiment, a method is provided for limiting an expected ischemic reperfusion injury comprising the step of administering prior to an expected ischemic event a therapeutically effective amount of L-2-oxothiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid. In a further embodiment of the present invention, a method is provided for limiting ischemic reperfusion injury comprising the step of administering to a patient after the onset of an ischemic event a therapeutically effective amount of L-2-oxothiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 1991Date of Patent: March 10, 1992Assignee: Clintec Nutrition Co.Inventors: Dennis I. Goldberg, David C. Madsen, W. Bruce Rowe

Patent number: 4920098Abstract: A method is provided for individuals under treatment for or at risk of atherosclerotic, vascular, cardiovascular, and/or thrombotic disease by administering a composition which comprises a protein source; a carbohydrate source; and at least one lipid selected from the group consisting of: gamma-linolenic acid; eicosapentaenoic acid; docosahexaenoic acid; sterodonic acid; and linolenic acid. Both an enteral and parenteral composition are provided.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 1989Date of Patent: April 24, 1990Assignee: Baxter International Inc.Inventors: Richard Cotter, Robert C. Johnson, Michael Ward, David C. Madsen, Anthony J. Valicenti, Michael P. Menard, Hugh N. Tucker

Patent number: 4902948Abstract: A guidance system for guiding a plurality of unmanned vehicles along guide wires. A plurality of data communication circuits are provided which form an extensive network. A traffic control computer composes a coded vehicle instruction for assigning tasks and allocates resources to said unmanned vehicles. The traffic control computer polls the status of each vehicle at varying time intervals and receives a response from said vehicle. The network connecting the computer and the communication circuits prevents reception of data transmissions from more than one vehicle at a time. Other messages are temporarily stored.Data transmitters generate low frequency, low power signals which have a high data transmission rate.Digital data is converted at the transmitters into cosine waveforms of selected frequencies. The cosine waveforms are transposed into sine waveforms at receivers. Low impedance or high impedance characteristics are imposed upon the guide wires.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 1988Date of Patent: February 20, 1990Assignee: Eaton-Kenway, Inc.Inventors: Leigh E. Sherman, Gary L. Whatcott, Richard M. Dicks, David C. Madsen
