Inventors: David C. Vogel, David M. Tumey
  • Patent number: 9791209
Abstract: A process of liquefying a natural gas stream in a liquefied natural gas facility is provided. The process includes cooling the natural gas stream in a first refrigeration cycle to produce a cooled natural gas stream. The process also includes cooling the cooled natural gas stream in a first chiller of a second refrigeration cycle, the cooled natural gas stream exiting the first chiller at a first pressure. The process further includes cooling the cooled natural gas stream in a first core of a second chiller of the second refrigeration cycle. The process yet further includes cooling a refrigerant of a refrigerant recycle stream separate from the cooled natural gas stream in a second core of the second chiller of the second refrigeration cycle, wherein the refrigerant recycle stream enters the second chiller at a second pressure that is lower than the first pressure of the cooled natural gas stream.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 8, 2015
Date of Patent: October 17, 2017
    Assignee: ConocoPhillips Company
Inventors: Satish L. Gandhi, Jim L. Rockwell, Karl L. Herzog, David C. Vogel

  • Patent number: 6964181
Abstract: A process and apparatus for controlling or reducing the heating value or BTU content of NGL recovered from LNG streams. LNG pipelines have a maximum allowable heating value that LNG must be within prior to entering the pipeline. If the LNG heating value is too high, the components contributing to the high heating value must be removed prior to being introduced in the pipeline. The process controls the heating value of the residue LNG gas stream by splitting a feed stream and warming at least a portion of the feed stream. Substantial differences in enthalpy content and temperature between the two portions of the feed stream exist prior to being sent to a fractionation tower.

  • Patent number: 4853319
Abstract: Novel pyrazolone photographic couplers contain in the coupling position a coupling-off group represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein: L.sub.1 and L.sub.2 individually are unsubstituted or substituted methylene or ethylene;m and n individually are 0 or 1;Y is R.sub.1 or ZR.sub.2 ;R.sub.1 is an unsubstituted or substituted aryl or heterocyclic group, or is a secondary or tertiary carbon group represented by ##STR2## wherein R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are selected from the group consisting of halogen, R.sub.2 and Z.sub.1 R.sub.b ; wherein Z is O, S, or NR.sub.a ; Z.sub.1 is O, S, or NR.sub.c ; and R.sub.2 is an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, aryl, or heterocyclic group. R.sub.5, R.sub.6, R.sub.a, R.sub.b and R.sub.c are as defined in the specification. R.sub.3 optionally joins together with at least one of R.sub.4 and R.sub.
