  • Patent number: 11998953
Abstract: An automated process for separating and recycling a broad mix of waste material including, but not limited to, paper and flexible plastics. A materials recovery facility (MRF) collects, presorts, and separates into individual commodities the material, then separates partially processed 2D blends from 3D containers, while refraining from any quality control of the 2D blends, and bales the 2D blends. A fiber center receives the bales from the MRF, aggregates the partially processed 2D blends, removes recyclable commodities including flexible plastics from the 2D blends, aggregates each recyclable commodity that is removed from the 2D blends, and forms separate commodity streams of clean paper and clean flexible plastics. Also provided are a related fiber center (and an infrastructure including the center) and at least one computer-readable non-transitory storage medium embodying software for performing the process.

  • Patent number: 9413776
Abstract: A code finder system deployed as a software module, a web service or as part of a larger security system, identifies and processes well-formed code sequences. For a data flow that is expected to be free of executable or interpreted code, or free of one or more known styles of executable or interpreted code, the code finder system can protect participants in the communications network. Examples of payload carried by data flows that can be monitored include, but are not limited to, user input data provided as part of interacting with a web application, data files or entities, such as images or videos, and user input data provided as part of interacting with a desktop application.

  • Patent number: 7302962
Abstract: A pressure relief valve (12) for relieving air pressure from a passenger compartment (14) of a vehicle (10) includes a base (18) having a peripheral portion (30). A central opening (42) extends through the peripheral portion (30). The pressure relief valve (12) also includes a plurality of flaps (74) for closing the central opening (42) of the base (18). Each flap (74) has an outer end (82) connected with the peripheral portion (30) of the base (18) and an inner end (80) that is movable relative to the peripheral portion (30) and the other flaps (74) for enabling airflow through the central opening (42). Each flap (74) has opposite surfaces (76 and 78) against which air pressure acts. Differential air pressure acts on the opposite surfaces (76 and 78) causing the flap (74) to move to enable airflow through the central opening (42).

A plurality of openings (46) extends through the base (18) and a plurality of flaps (60) closes the openings (46). Each flap (60) is associated with at least one opening (46). An inner end (66) of each flap (60) connects with the central portion (26) of the base (18). An outer end (68) of each flap (60) is movable relative to the central portion (26) of the base (18) and the other flaps for enabling airflow through the at least one associated opening (46). The pressure relief valve (12) further includes a connector (22) on the base (18) that is configured for securing the pressure relief valve (12) to the vehicle (10).

  • Patent number: 5494133
Abstract: A controlled weight-lowering device is presented which allows an individual to descend from a building at a predetermined rate of descent. The device can be permanently attached to the building or it can be portable. The device has an outer bracket which is securely attached to the inside of the building. Rotating about a shaft attached to the bracket is a cylindrical winding drum. The drum has a rope wound around it that is attached to a harness. The individual puts on the harness he desires to descend. Inside the winding drum is an inner gear pump and valve mechanism which is surrounded by an oil reservoir. Oil is allowed to go into the gear set chamber and circulates past the gears. The rate of flow of the oil out of the gear set chamber is regulated by a spring biased tapered piston. As the strength of the spring biasing is set on the piston, the rate of flow of oil within the gear set chamber is regulated.
