  • Patent number: 10691254
Abstract: A serial communication method between a device and a host, in which the device reports touch data including a coordinate of a detected active stylus to a host. The host issues a write command that includes data indicating a request of a descriptor, to the device. After the device performs a predetermined process for the write command, the device transmits an interrupt to the host. The host requests the device to transmit the touch data, triggered by the host detecting the interrupt. The device transmits the descriptor in response to a request for transmission of the touch data. The method can enable a sensor controller to notify the host of the descriptor even in a case where communication is performed between the sensor controller and a host processor in accordance with a standard that does not provide a command usable for the device to notify the host of the descriptor.

  • Patent number: 10558280
Abstract: A method is provided to interface an active stylus with a sensor controller, wherein the sensor controller is coupled to a sensor configured to receive input from the active stylus. In the method the sensor controller defines data frames consisting of more than one time slot usable for receiving packets from the stylus. The active stylus transmits, in response to a request from the sensor controller, a signal including stylus capability information. The sensor controller determines, based on the stylus capability information, a downlink time slot allocation for use by the active stylus to transmit packets to the sensor controller. The sensor controller transmits the downlink time slot allocation to the active stylus.

  • Patent number: 10452197
Abstract: A method for operating a sensor surface includes detecting an initial position of a stylus relative to the sensor surface, determining initial coordinate values based on the detected initial position of the stylus, and communicating the initial coordinate values for further processing. The method further includes determining subsequent coordinate values based on a subsequent position of the stylus detected after detecting the initial position and, based on a characteristic of the initial or subsequent position detection, modifying the subsequent coordinate values to represent a position that is different than the subsequent position of the stylus. The subsequent coordinate values may be modified to be the same as the initial coordinate values that represent the initial position of the stylus. The modified coordinate values are communicated for further processing.

  • Patent number: 10359865
Abstract: A stylus outputs an output value PO corresponding to a force Forg applied to a core body of the stylus, and includes an MCU. The MCU sets profile data representing a correspondence relation between a primary pen pressure value P1 and the output value PO based on a characteristic f1 of a pen pressure detecting portion PD of the stylus. The profile data broadly or indirectly defines a relation h between the force Forg and the output value PO. The MCU repeatedly obtains the primary pen pressure value P1 corresponding to the force Forg from the pen pressure detecting portion PD. The MCU, each time the primary pen pressure value P1 is obtained, obtains the output value PO from the primary pen pressure value P1 based on the profile data and outputs the output value PO. The stylus allows for decoupling (isolating) the configuration of the pen pressure detecting portion PD from the output value PO outputted from the stylus.
