  • Publication number: 20160239727
Abstract: A wide area printer is capable of printing large images on non-typical surfaces such as pavement, grass, or soil. The printer is a wheeled device that is capable of multiple configurations including a plurality of drop nozzle arrays and a plurality of spray nozzle arrays. Each nozzle is independently addressable. Alternately, a group of nozzles may be addressed simultaneously. Each array of nozzles contains a carrier and a colorant. The colorant may be pre-mixed in the carrier, or may be mixed in-situ.

  • Patent number: 9004646
Abstract: A rotary inkjet imaging apparatus includes a curved print zone having a longitudinal axis and in which a page of media is held in a curved configuration at a stationary position, a carrier movable bi-directionally along a linear path defined adjacent to the curved print zone and extending parallel to the longitudinal axis thereof, and at least one inkjet printhead supported by the carrier for undergoing movement within the curved print zone along a curved path winding about a central axis extending parallel to the guide path and coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the curved print zone such that the inkjet printhead moves about the central axis multiple revolutions and prints on the page concurrently as the carrier unidirectionally moves along the linear path and the printhead moves within the curved print zone and through portions of the curved path in which the printhead faces toward the page.

  • Patent number: 8162438
Abstract: A rotary inkjet imaging apparatus includes a carrier movable bi-directionally along a linear guide path defined adjacent to a curved print zone and extending parallel to a longitudinal axis thereof, and an inkjet printhead disc having a body and at least one and preferably multiple printhead chips integrated into its perimeter. The disc body is supported by the carrier for undergoing movement within the curved print zone along a curved path winding about a central axis extending parallel to the guide path and coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the curved print zone such that the disc body moves about the central axis multiple revolutions and the printhead chips print on the page concurrently as the carrier unidirectionally moves along the linear guide path and the disc body moves within the curved print zone and through portions of the curved path in which the chips face toward the page.
