Abstract: A method and apparatus is described for enabling an advanced notification rule. According to one embodiment, the advanced notification rule may be generated to suspend, redirect or automatically acknowlegde standard notifications, or transmit supplement notifications.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is described for monitoring, notification, and reporting of the status of a business site's infrastructure. The monitoring captures pertinent health and status information of hosts using a satellite system located locally to the hosts. This information serves as a basis for reports that the business site may generate about the hosts. Thresholds may be set on monitored parameters of a host and feed into an acknowledgment based notification process based on a set of escalation parameters that triggers alerts to persons designated by the business site. Real-time and historical of the infrastructure data reports may be generated. An infrastructure's assets may also be tracked.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is described for the generation of an alert configuration file. According to one embodiment, configuration information is stored in a relational database which a configuration generator uses to generate a text configuration file. The configuration information being stored in the relational database allows for access control and data validation. At periodic intervals, the text configuration file is compiled to reinitialize an alerts serve with the updated configuration information.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is described for remote monitoring of a business site network. One or more remote satellite systems may be strategically positioned at different points on the Internet that are close to backbone networks in order to monitor and evaluate typical user interactions with a business site. By positioning the remote satellite systems at points near backbones approximate to those of users accessing a business site, a more accurate analysis of a site's performance may be performed that better reflects the experience that similarly connected users experience. Various network and system parameters of a business site may be monitored, such as threshold timing parameters and correctness parameters.
