  • Patent number: 4339356
Abstract: Heavily perfumed detergent compositions having both immediate and long lasting perfume emitting properties are prepared by a process in which perfume is emulsified in a water solution of water-soluble polymer, and the emulsion is mixed with a powdered hydratable material, in such a ratio that all of the water in the emulsion can be bound in the resulting hydrate, eliminating a separate drying step. The result is a dry, free flowing granular material which can be readily dry mixed into fully formulated detergent compositions. The perfume is retained in the polymeric matrix and is released at the point of product use when contacted with water.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 31, 1980
Date of Patent: July 13, 1982
Assignee: The Procter & Gamble Company
    Inventor: David D. Whyte
  • Patent number: 4209417
Abstract: Heavily perfumed particles having both immediate and long lasting perfume emitting properties consist essentially of from 30% to 70% water-insoluble perfume, from 25% to 65% of a water-soluble polymer, and emulsifier. The particles are comprised of a continuous polymeric matrix having dispersed substantially uniformly therethrough perfume/emulsifier droplets. The perfumed particles are especially useful in detergent compositions.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: June 24, 1980
Assignee: The Procter & Gamble Company
    Inventor: David D. Whyte
  • Patent number: 4176079
Abstract: An article, primarily for use in detergent compositions, comprising an enzyme dispersed in a water-soluble resin film. Plasticizers, suds modifiers, solids, and surface-active agents may also be dispersed in said article.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 20, 1977
Date of Patent: November 27, 1979
Assignee: The Procter & Gamble Company
Inventors: Raymond E. Guerry, David D. Whyte
  • Patent number: 4025655
Abstract: Beverage carbonation devices employing carbon dioxide-containing molecular sieves. Upon contact with aqueous solutions carbon dioxide is released from such molecular sieves and thereupon dissolves in the liquid to provide a carbonated beverage.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 4, 1976
Date of Patent: May 24, 1977
Assignee: The Procter & Gamble Company
Inventors: David D. Whyte, Ronald L. Sampson
  • Patent number: 3992493
