  • Patent number: 4836082
Abstract: A multiple barrel gun for firing projectiles at an extremely high rate of fire, in the form of a dense cloud of projectiles. In one embodiment, hundreds of gun barrels are rapidly rotated about a fewer number of fixed firing stations. As each group of barrels approach the fixed stations, cartridges are radially fed to the barrels, and the group of barrels are concurrently fired when they become aligned with the stations. During each complete revolution of the multiple barrel gun, all of the gun barrels are successively fired in groups a number of times corresponding to the number of firing stations. The total fire power of the gun for each revolution is accordingly equal to the number of barrels times the number of firing stations.

  • Patent number: 4834386
Abstract: A method for a plurality of players each having a turn and a score to play a dice game using a plurality of dice and comprising the steps of throwing one die of the plurality of dice by each player of the plurality of players so as to decide which player of the plurality of players is the first player, throwing the plurality of dice in turn by each player of the plurality of players so that the dice game may begin, removing at least one die from the plurality of dice in turn by each player of the plurality of players so that each player may continue playing the turn, throwing in turn the remaining dice of the plurality of dice by each player of the plurality of players, throwing continually in turn the remaining dice of the plurality of dice by each player of the plurality of players until a score is reached and a decision to continue is made by each player of the plurality of players, and throwing the plurality of dice by each player of the plurality of players until a winning score is reached.

  • Patent number: 4831914
Abstract: A detachable ammunition magazine for high rate-of-fire guns that stores and positively feeds triangularly shaped cartridges to the gun in serial order. The cartridges are stored in a series of concentric cylindrically shaped tiers or arrays, and are advanced in a spiral path and transferred from one array to another to replace the cartridges fed to the gun. All cartridges are continuously maintained in spiral movement during feeding to the gun and are transfered between tiers using a fixed cam structure.

  • Patent number: 4748892
Abstract: A rapid rate of fire, multiple barrel gun employing triangularly shaped cartridges that are fed and ejected transversely to the barrels of the gun. Each barrel has its own separate feed and ejection system, that are driven in common in a synchronized but out-of-phase relationship to successively fire from the different barrels. During each cycle of feed, the cartriges are successively accelerated, then moved at constant speed, then decelerated, and monentarily stopped during firing. The common drive mechanism transfers energy from the feed being decelerated to a different feed being accelerated to more efficiently drive the plural feed and ejection mechanisms at high speed.

  • Patent number: 4582147
Abstract: A system for directional drilling of boreholes into the earth under control of the driller at the surface, employing a rotating earth drill including a projectile firing mechanism, that is timed to nonsymmetrically fire projectiles into the earth at controlled angular positions that are offset from the axis of the drill and drill string in the desired direction of drilling.

  • Patent number: 4474250
Abstract: A method of measuring lithology, and other underground conditions, while drilling bores into the earth employing the repetitive firing of projectiles to fracture rock and penetrate the earth and detecting the high intensity acoustic signals being produced as the drill progressively penetrates.

  • Patent number: 4204473
Abstract: An ignitable charge for producing pressurized gas to power industrial tools; that is made of plentiful, common materials at a very low cost, lower in cost than conventional charges by orders of magnitude. The charge is comprised of a hollow plastic jacket of triangular cross section that is open through its center to both opposite ends and contains a nitrocellulose propellant in uncompressed, or expanded form that may be electrically ignited through one end of the jacket by a spark, hot wire, or the like in an open chambertype feed and firing mechanism. The charge produces pressurized gas at the desired burning rate and peak pressures for operating the tool.

  • Patent number: 4026212
Abstract: An open chamber gas powered tool and gas generating charge for the tool. The charge has a hollow open-ended plastic jacket of uniform noncircular cross-section from end to end containing a propellant, such as nitrocellulose, which may be electrically ignited through an open end of the jacket by a spark, hot wire or the like or ignited by detonation of a dab of priming compound contained within a recess in one end of the jacket. The tool has an open chamber breech mechanism including a cylinder containing a firing chamber opening through the cylinder circumference for transporting charges to firing position wherein the chamber is closed by the breech frame, a trigger actuated firing means for firing the charges in firing position, and operating means powered by the gas generated by each fired charge for performing a work function.

  • Patent number: 4004642
Abstract: Processes and apparatus in the field of Terradynamics, e. g. projectile penetration into soils and rocks, employing "open chamber" firing systems using "Trounds" (triangular rounds of ammunition). Included are salvo firings of small calibre projectiles for "shock wave" interaction drilling application of residual gun gases to actuate drill heads and/or reamers; a continuous self-contained feed system for feeding ammunition to be fired and removing and storing the used cases; remote self contained powering of the ammunition feed and storage by recoil of the gun, residual gun gases, electrical batteries, and/or combinations thereof; absorption of excess residual gun gas in an ambient environment of over 5000 psi external to the gun; and automatic clearing of the gun barrels from mud and or debris when embedded in a high pressure drilling mud external to a gun drill.
