Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for acquiring and transforming existing content (e.g., Hyper Text Markup Language HTML content) for display and execution on multiple platforms and architectures. In one embodiment, capture templates are created to harvest content from disparate content sources on multiple platforms. Data is extracted from the content from the disparate content sources using the created capture templates that drives extracting process. A standardized data stream is generated from the extracted data. The standardized data stream is provided for display on one or more different type of platforms.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide systems and methods for the automatic creation, and subsequent presentation as a passive viewing experience, of a composite VOD clip created based upon one or more specified VOD clip categories. For one embodiment, a user selects one or more VOD clip categories from a list or other selection presentation and a composite VOD clip is created having component VOD clips that are constrained by the selected VOD clip categories. For one embodiment of the invention, the user may also select one or more VOD clip parameters for each of the selected VOD clip categories that further constrain the content of the composite VOD clip. Embodiments of the invention thereby provide for the automatic creation of a VOD composite clip having component VOD clips constrained by selected categories or selected categories and parameters that can be presented as a passive viewing experience.

The authoring specification provides for the presentation of content through one or more templates defined therein, allowing application definition and behavior to remain common across multiple client device types, middleware platforms, and/or iTV operating environments.

Abstract: A system and method to transcode and playback DVD content and other related applications are described. Content information is received from a content source in a source format. Supplemental data is further received in a predetermined format from multiple servers. The content information is subsequently processed using the supplemental data in order to transform the content information from the source format to a predetermined format. The processed content information is then transmitted to a server for further processing and playback to a client coupled to the server.

The automatic insertion of the Interactive TV trigger can be based on recognition of one or more elements within the broadcast data stream. In particular, a recognized element can trigger the insertion of the interactive TV trigger into the broadcast data stream. Furthermore, the interactive TV trigger can be pre-inserted into the stored broadcast content having the recognized element prior to being broadcast.
