  • Patent number: 5343942
Abstract: A line protector protects a line which is strapped to a string of well tubing made up of sections that secure together by threaded couplings. The line protector includes a channel member having upper and lower ends, a base and two spaced apart sidewalls extending therefrom, defining a receptacle for receiving the line. An aperture is located in a central portion of the base between the upper and lower ends and configured for receiving an outer edge portion of the coupling. The channel member is strapped to the tubing with the base in contact with the tubing, with the outer edge portion of the coupling located in the aperture, and with the line located in the receptacle and having a portion in contact with the outer edge portion of the coupling. An adapter is strapped to the tubing between couplings for protection in a midsection area of the section of tubing.
