  • Patent number: 6498712
Abstract: A variable electronic component in the nature of a trimmed capacitor has a very low cost and simple design. A dielectric housing has an open end that a plug may be press fit into. The plug grips an upper region of the dielectric housing with at least one projection. A conductive body acts as a variable electrode, moving axially within the dielectric housing. A stator, acting as a fixed electrode, is securely affixed to an outer portion of the dielectric housing opposite the open end by crimping the top of the stator over a protrusion on an outer surface of the dielectric housing. The total press fit design reduces the number of steps normally required to make a trimmed capacitor, thereby reducing the cost of manufacture.

  • Patent number: 5229911
Abstract: A variable electronic component in the nature of a trimmer capacitor has greatly increased voltage rating and capacitance range, while eliminating possible failure modes. An annular opening formed in a stationary electrode is surrounded by plastic dielectric material so as to receive in interference fit a circular sleeve of an opposing impedance varying electrode. By filling the air gap with plastic dielectric material, no air contributes to the effective dielectric, while at the same time, preventing shorting as a result of loose metallic particles which might be present.

  • Patent number: 5155654
Abstract: A variable electronic component in the nature of a small sealed capacitor includes a pair of free floating dielectric plates disposed overlying a conductive body which is displaceable therebetween along a linear path. The conductive body is brought into varying degrees of overlapping registration with a conductive layer on the dielectric plates to vary the impedance characteristics of the capacitor between minimum and maximum values.

  • Patent number: 4575782
Abstract: A collision avoidance light for mounting at the rear window of an automobile includes a housing, a socket assembly, a lens and an anti-glare shield. The housing defines an open face. The socket assembly includes a socket for mounting a light bulb. The socket assembly is mounted on the housing. The lens is detachably mounted to the housing in juxtaposition with the open face. The anti-glare shield is mounted on the housing and at least partially surrounds the lens. The shield is readily adaptible to conform to the slope of the rear window.
