  • Patent number: 4113122
Abstract: This invention relates to a loading and unloading apparatus for a load-carrying vehicle. The arrangement includes a plurality of cables which are laid on the floor of the vehicle and which support loads placed thereon. The opposite ends of the cables are connected to separate power outputs on the underside of the floor, which power outputs include takeup reels. The cables can be moved in either longitudinal direction on the vehicle floor whereby loads supported on the cables are moved along the vehicle floor to facilitate loading and unloading of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4082196
Abstract: This invention relates to a loading and unloading apparatus for a load-carrying vehicle. The arrangement includes a plurality of cables which are laid on the floor of the vehicle and which support loads placed thereon. The cables can be moved in either longitudinal direction on the vehicle floor whereby loads supported on the cables are moved along the vehicle floor to facilitate loading and unloading of the vehicle. The cables are for all practical purposes endless and have a load supporting run and a return run. The return run is so arranged as to not interfere with the understructure of the vehicle and the fifth wheel connection, in the case of a trailer of a tractor-trailer rig. The cables are driven by means of a driven bulkhead which is connected to the cables and which is, in turn, driven by a chain drive mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4052083
Abstract: A parallelogram load-bracing device particularly useful for bracing loads in trucks when the load consumes less than the space available in the truck. The device is suspended from the roof of the truck and includes a parallelogram frame having laterally movable load-engaging members attached thereto. The device is constructed in sections such that the device can be readily lengthened by adding additional sections. A single actuating means is located at one end of the device for expanding and contracting the device into and out of engagement with the load to be braced. Alternate embodiments include mounting laterally moving load-engaging members on the interior side walls of the truck.

  • Patent number: 3999671
Abstract: An article handling system for trucks or tractor-drawn trailers which will deliver an article, such as a palletized load, to the rear opening of the truck from a designated position thereon without having to remove other containers from the truck.

  • Patent number: 3952887
Abstract: Vehicle loading and unloading apparatus comprising a longitudinally extensible element having pallet load supporting rollers and ground-engaging rollers. Power drive means moves the extensible element under restrained pallet loads, spaced from the supporting floor by supporting beams or pallet feet, to wedge the loads upwardly and off of its supporting means. With the loads supported on the load supporting rollers, the extensible element is retracted to remove the entire load from the vehicle. In loading, loads are placed on the rollers and the extensible element is extended into the vehicle. The load is then restrained while the frame is withdrawn from beneath the loads, as a wedge would be withdrawn, to allow the loads to rest on supporting means within the vehicle.
