  • Patent number: 5895603
Abstract: An oil additive for repairing abrasions and lubricating engine bearing surfaces is provided. A mixture of granular granulated alloy material and granular polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) are added to the engine or engine oil, with normal engine operations peening and burnishing the granulated metal alloy material granules to the surfaces to thereby form a matrix which entraps the PTFE granules. Continued operation of the engine gradually wears away particles of the matrix to uncover the embedded PTFE granules for slow release of granules. In one embodiment, about 1% to 2% by composition of the mixture is granules of titanium dioxide for preparing the bearing surfaces and enhancing additive performance. The granules of the mixture are micron to submicron in size and can adhere readily to surface abrasions and smooth surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5373214
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved spark plug and electrode arrangement therefor. A central electrode has a sparking end adjacently positioned to and mated with a spark-receiving end of an outer electrode. At least one of the electrode ends has a protrusion extending towards the other electrode, and the other electrode has a geometrically mated indentation. A relatively uniform spark gap having increased surface area is provided therebetween. Hemispherical or rounded and conical protrusions and mated indentations are preferred embodiments of the present invention. The present spark plug electrode arrangement provides increased area sparks, regulates sparks under varied conditions and decreases incidence of carbon build up.

  • Patent number: 5167785
Abstract: A thin strong anode is made with an embedded end of a multi-strand single sleeve insulated wire and is molded from a three part composition of polymer, carbon and silica gel. The anode is thin, about 3/32 of an inch thick, and about an inch and a half in diameter. The anode is made in circular or other configuration. The peripheral wall of the anode has dimples, which are engaged by snaps projected inward from walls of a low profile capsule. The conductor passes through an opening in the side wall of the capsule. Standoffs space the anode from the upper wall of the capsule. An outward extending flange of the capsule is coated with adhesive, which may cover a part or all of the base of the anode.

  • Patent number: 5078871
Abstract: A magnetic field is applied to an automotive engine-type oil filter canister by permanently adhering a plastic strip halfway around an outer surface of the filter canister, thereby forming a magnetic field within the filter canister attracting ferrous magnetic particles to an inner wall of the canister adjacent the ferrous magnetic strip.

  • Patent number: 4915808
Abstract: A square blocked anode with first and second opposite flat faces and rectangular sidewalls joining the flat faces has a diagonal hole formed between one sidewall and a second face of the anode. Insulation is stripped from a distal end of a multiple strand insulated wire lead and the stripped end is inserted through the sidewall into the diagonal opening. Wire strands which emerge from the opening in the second surface of the anode are spread around the opening and solder may be applied to the spread strands. The square anode is fitted within a capsule having a square body with inner walls similar to the anode and slightly larger than corresponding surfaces of the anode. The insulated wire lead which emerges from the diagonal opening in a sidewall engages an inner surface of the capsule and an opposite sidewall of the anode engages an opposite inner surface of the capsule in friction fit, holding the anode in the capsule after the anode with the emerging wire lead are pressed in the capsule.

  • Patent number: 4888122
Abstract: An engine oil additive in the form of a dry lubricant powder having approximately equal parts of Dupont DLX-6000, an experimental grade fluorocarbon resin micropowder having particle size less than a micron and having a recommended temperature range of about 480 degrees F. and a Colt Industries Plastomer Products Division Plastolon P-550 Teflon powder having a micron to submicron size and having a recommended operation maximum range of from about 500 to about 600 degrees F. and about 1-2% titanium dioxide is added to an engine oil by draining used engine oil, renewing filtration system, pouring one pint of new engine oil into filler opening, mixing second pint with the prescribed ratio of Power Powder and pouring into the engine filler opening, filling with additional oil needed to bring engine oil capacity to full, and immediately operating the engine through its normal driving manner for approximately 30 minutes.

  • Patent number: 4762093
Abstract: A practice is disclosed for the start-up of a methanol-fueled engine at low ambient temperatures. Liquid methanol fuel is atomized using ultrasonic energy, mixed with air and introduced over a methanol oxidation-dissociation catalyst. Methanol oxidation is used to heat the catalyst to an elevated temperature at which methanol dissociation provides a noncondensable fuel comprising carbon monoxide and hydrogen for the start-up of the engine at low ambient temperature.
