In another form, the device is provided with a base, a handle and at least one moveable handle grip which again provides the individual with greater flexibility in locating his or her hands relative to the object to be lifted. In a further form, the device includes a base, a handle and at least one handle grip. In this form, at least one of the elements of the device is removable from the other components to allow an individual to readily substitute parts or vary the position of one part relative to another to make a given lifting or carrying task easier.

Abstract: A lifting device includes a base comprising a horizontal portion for engagement with the bottom of an object to be lifted and a vertical portion for engagement with the side of the object. A handle is secured to the base and extends vertically upwardly from the vertical portion. A handle grip is mounted on the handle for selective engagement to impose an upwardly directive force on the handle and the base, thereby lifting an object mounted on the base in engagement with horizontal and vertical portions thereof. The handle grip may be selectively positioned or located vertically relative to the base. The handle grip may be tubular in construction to facilitate the receipt of a bar therethrough thereby facilitating lifting by multiple persons. The lifting device maybe provided with brackets, slots, apertures, and/or rings for receiving straps or ropes to secure objects to be lifted to the lifting device.

Abstract: A tool 10 for rock breaking, log splitting and similar operations includes a plate 12 having a plurality of identical apertures 14 formed therethrough. A frame 16 comprised of a skirt 18 formed from lengths of angle iron and a plurality of legs also formed from lengths of angle iron supports the plate 12 in a substantially horizontal orientation above a workpiece. An implement 22 includes a first end for engaging the workpiece and a second end to be engaged with a hammer. The implement is further characterized by dimensions closely matched to those of the apertures formed in the plate. The plate 12positions the implement 22 in engagement with the workpiece and maintains the implement 22 in a substantially vertical orientation for engagement by an actuating hammer.
