  • Patent number: 11460578
Abstract: A method and system for sensing objects disposed about a vehicle includes LIDAR sensors in a LIDAR sensing unit mounted above the vehicle. The system includes outputting a plurality of laser beams from lasers while rotating the LIDAR sensing unit and simultaneously oscillating or changing an axis of rotation for the LIDAR sensing unit. The LIDAR sensors receive a reflection of the laser beams and convert optical signals to electrical signals. An electronic processor is configured to determine a presence or absence of objects from the electrical signals and provide a warning indication or control movement of the vehicle in response to detection of objects. The oscillating of the LIDAR sensing unit causes the laser beams to change an angle with respect to horizontal during rotation. The change in oscillation or offset angle for an axis of rotation is accounted for by the electronic processor to map the presence of objects. An autonomous vehicle is controlled based on the sensed objects or a warning is provided.

  • Patent number: 11316607
Abstract: Devices, computer-readable media and methods are disclosed for selecting paths in reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM) networks using machine learning. In one example, a method includes defining a feature set for a proposed path through a wavelength division multiplexing network, wherein the proposed path traverses at least one link in the network, and wherein the at least one link connects a pair of reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexers, predicting an optical performance of the proposed path, wherein the predicting employs a machine learning model that takes the feature set as an input and outputs a metric that quantifies predicted optical performance, and determining whether to deploy a new wavelength on the proposed path based on the predicted optical performance of the proposed path.

  • Patent number: 11305099
Abstract: A bi-stable popper valve and a device for detecting blockage in a flow of a fluid are provided. The valve includes a membrane supporting two conformations: in a first conformation the membrane is convex in relation the upstream fluid, and in a second conformation the membrane can be concave in relation to the upstream fluid, such that in the first conformation the flow of the fluid through the membrane is prevented and in the second conformation the flow of the fluid through the membrane is permitted through a pore defined by the membrane in only the second conformation. The membrane changes from the first conformation to the second responsive to a pressure of the fluid meeting or exceeding an opening pressure value of the membrane. A sensor can detect a shift from the first conformation to the second conformation, indicating a flow, or absence of flow, of the fluid.

  • Patent number: 11280832
Abstract: A memory circuit includes input multiplexers passing one of a pair of input bits. A first input multiplexer receives a first data bit and a serial input bit. Additional input multiplexers receive either a respective pair of data (D) bits, or a write-enable (WEN) bit and a single D bit. Scan latches receive one of the input bits and provide a scan output bit. OR gates arranged receive the scan output bit from a different scan latch, and perform a logical OR operation thereon to generate an OR output bit. Downstream output multiplexers pass a corresponding bit from a bit array or the OR output bit from a corresponding OR gate, and sense latches receive the corresponding bit from one of the output multiplexers and provide a sense output bit. Each sense output bit feeds into one or more input multiplexers when a bit-write-mask function is disabled.
