  • Publication number: 20070124121
Abstract: A computer-implemented model for use in predicting the efficiency of light emission from constructions of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). The model, as implemented using computer processing, provides essentially-exact solutions to the behavior of light in the sandwiched layers and the encapsulant of the constructions, and it can predict nearly exactly the overall efficiency of device emission relative to the quantum efficiency of emission, as well as the angular distribution of light emitted by the device. Use of the computer-implemented modeling thus eliminates the need to build and evaluate each and every design as a physical prototype.

  • Publication number: 20070124122
Abstract: Computer-implemented methods of simulating backlights, and machine-readable media for carrying out such methods, are disclosed. The backlight may include a plurality of components, each component having at least one element. Some methods can include: tracing rays to an output plane of the backlight; collecting information from the traced rays to produce a first database containing spatial and directional information of the rays incident on the output plane; associating a probability function with the output plane; and calculating a second database containing spatial and directional information for rays exiting the output plane as a function of the probability function and the database. The output plane can if desired correspond to a stack of optical films, e.g., diffusing films, prismatic films, reflective polarizing films, turning films, and the like. Preferably, the probability function is a bi-directional scattering distribution function (BSDF) of the output plane.

  • Publication number: 20060110574
Abstract: I have invented an interleaved disposable tablecloth roll. Successive longitudinally folded pre-cut tablecloth sheets are provided on a coreless roll. The last five inches of each tablecloth are overlapped with the first five inches of the successive tablecloth so that the rear edge of each tablecloth is above the leading edge of the successive tablecloth.
