Patent number: 11984720Abstract: A protection circuit is disclosed. The protection circuit includes a direct current (DC) blocking component electrically connected between a neutral of the transformer and a ground, and an overvoltage protection device electrically connected in parallel with the DC blocking component. The overvoltage protection device is constructed to repeatably and reliably provide overvoltage protection in response to a voltage at the transformer neutral above a threshold. The DC blocking component has an impedance below a predetermined value, thereby effectively grounding the neutral of the transformer. The DC blocking component is persistently maintained in connection to the transformer neutral.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2020Date of Patent: May 14, 2024Assignee: TechHold LLCInventors: David Anderson, Greg Fuchs, Frederick R. Patent number: 11974740Abstract: An applicator instrument for dispensing surgical fasteners includes a housing, an elongated shaft, surgical fasteners disposed in the elongated shaft, a firing system for dispensing the surgical fasteners, a firing rod disposed within the elongated shaft and movable within a first plane, and an advancer disposed within the elongated shaft and moveable within a second plane. An actuator is coupled with the advancer for moving the advancer back and forth between retracted and extended positions. A staging assembly at the distal end of the elongated shaft aligns a leading surgical fastener with the first plane. The staging assembly includes a biasing device that is configured to be deflected away from the first plane by the advancer when the advancer is in the extended position and the staging assembly is configured to spring back into alignment with the first plane when the advancer returns back to the retracted position.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2022Date of Patent: May 7, 2024Assignee: Cilag GmbH InternationalInventors: Simon Cohn, Michael Cardinale, Richard P. Patent number: 11923129Abstract: Methods and systems for controlling a circuit designed to protect electrical equipment, in particular sensitive power grid equipment such as transformers, are disclosed. In particular, methods of local and remote control of operation of protection circuits are provided that allow for remote access to change an operational mode of such protection circuits, while ensuring that power grid equipment is protected locally regardless of any configuration instructions received from a remote or centralized facility. Override levels may be set to ensure power grid transformer protection, regardless of operational mode or remote instruction.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2022Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Assignee: TechHold LLCInventors: David Anderson, Greg Fuchs

Publication number: 20200388750Abstract: A magnetic device can include a substrate layer and an Fe1-xRhx film on the substrate layer, where x is in a range from about 0.47 to about 0.50, wherein a local region in the Fe1-xRhx film has a bistable magnetic order at a temperature between about 275K and about 325K. Films of Iron and Rhodium (FeRh) can provide both ferromagnetic (FM) and antiferromagnetic (AF) orders which are metastable at room temperature. For example, the composition of the Fe1-xRhx film can be controlled such that 0.47<x<0.50 so that after the magnetic order of the film (or a local region of the film) is established as AF or FM, the magnetic order can remain undisturbed while the temperature of the film varies within a range of room temperature.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 9, 2020Publication date: December 10, 2020Inventors: Antonio Rodolph Bighetti Mei, Gregory David Fuchs, Isaiah Gray

Patent number: 9495305Abstract: A method, a processing system, and a non-transitory computer-readable medium configured with instructions to carry out a method of determining access permission for or during dereferencing a memory address in an allocated portion of memory of a processing system. The method comprises: providing a pointer that has a tag field and a control-structure-pointer field; and entering content in the control-structure-pointer field to point to a control structure for the allocated portion of memory. The control structure's location or content indicates the portion of memory. The method assigning a tag value for the portion in the tag fields of the pointer and of the control structure. Determining access permission including ascertaining whether the contents of the tag fields of the pointer and of the control structure match.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2013Date of Patent: November 15, 2016Inventor: David Fuchs

Publication number: 20080199685Abstract: An apparatus (and a method of making an apparatus) that includes a flexible functional material. The flexible functional material includes nano-particle layer(s) and linking agent layer(s). The nano-particle layer(s) are bonded to the linking agent layer(s). The nano-particle layer(s) and/or linking agent layer(s) are deposited by being sprayed. Since nano-particle layer(s) and/or linking agent layer(s) may be deposited by being sprayed, a flexible functional material may be easily formed on structures (e.g. such as external aircraft parts) to create a conductive surface. Through spraying, deposition may be efficient and effective and allow for implementations which are impractical and/or not possible with bulk metal materials.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 21, 2008Publication date: August 21, 2008Inventors: Michael Jeremiah Bortner, David Fuch Wood, Elizabeth Gladwin

Publication number: 20060072265Abstract: This power and safety control hub for overall power control, safety control and power distribution integrates fault tolerant power disconnect control, software monitoring of disconnect and multi-voltage power distribution and disconnect with non-hazardous power control, EMI filtering and multi-circuit current protection in a single unit. In addition, it implements electromagnetic, single fault tolerant, safety control circuits without using positively driven contact relays. It coordinates the shutdown of any connected mechanical drives such as servo motor drives, stepper motor drives and variable speed drives autonomously commanding them to come to a controlled stop before safety power is disconnected (when networked controls are used). It also integrates segmented hazardous power control (load/unload and main machine/equipment areas) so that the main area can be operating while the load/unload area has power disconnected.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 15, 2005Publication date: April 6, 2006Applicant: Teknic, Inc.Inventors: Thomas Bucella, Jeremy Block, David Fuchs, Francis Testa, David Sewhuk, David Larson
