Patent number: 11350872Abstract: A system for predicting an occurrence of a foot ulcer includes a mat configured to be stood upon by a human subject, a plurality of sensor arrays disposed on or in said mat and arranged in adjacent proximity to one another. Each sensor includes an oxygenation probe, itself including a first light source and a light detector, and a secondary probe operable to utilize the light detector of the oxygenation probe and itself including a plurality of light sources exclusive of the first light source. The plurality of light sources of the secondary probe are arranged in a pattern around the oxygenation probe. The oxygenation probe is located at the approximate geometric center of the pattern. The system further includes a control module in signal communication with the light detector, and configured to independently control emission of light from the first light source of the oxygenation probe and the plurality of light sources of the secondary probe.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 2021Date of Patent: June 7, 2022Assignee: EDEN MEDICAL. Patent number: 10299736Abstract: Methods, devices, and systems according to present principles provide ways to diagnose frailty and assess the severity of its clinical status—e.g., non-frail, pre-frail, and frail, especially as measured and quantified during activities of daily living. Systems and methods according to present principles objectively quantify physical activity behaviors and identify specific motor tasks, which indicate clinical frailty syndrome behaviors such as flopping, cautious-sitting, non-uniform walking fluctuations, cognitive decline, slowness, weakness, and exhaustion. Additionally, the systems and methods allow improved sensitivity and specificity of frailty identification by further assessing physiological parameters such as heart rate, respiration rate, and skin temperature in response to, or recovery from, specific activities.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2015Date of Patent: May 28, 2019Assignee: THE ARIZONA BOARD OF REGENTS ON BEHALF OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONAInventors: Bijan Najafi, Saman Parvaneh, Martha Jane Mohler, David G. Armstrong, Mindy Joy Fain, Marvin J. Slepian

Publication number: 20180280696Abstract: A sensor interface device (e.g., orthotic device or immobilization device) is disclosed. More specifically, described is an individualized sensor device and system to prevent tissue damage resulting from, for example, pressure, torsion, temperature, shear, altered blood flow, reduced oxygen tension, pH levels, tissue conductivity, tissue viscoelasticity, infection and sweat chloride levels. In particular embodiments, the systems, devices and related methods are used for preventing ambulation and mobility related plantar tissue related damage and immobilizing tissues.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 23, 2016Publication date: October 4, 2018Inventors: Marvin J. Slepian, David G. Armstrong, Bijan Najafi

Patent number: 5262787Abstract: A radar performance monitor (RPM) receives a transmitted radar signal from a radar system being monitored and couples the signal to a recirculating loop comprising a SAW delay line in order to produce a series of simulated radar return signals of equal amplitude and by using the same frequency as the received radar signal providing the frequency falls within a predetermined bandwidth of the SAW delay line. The simulated radar return signals are displayed at the radar system and used to evaluate the operation and calibration of a transmitter and the sensitivity and calibration of a transmitter and the sensitivity and calibration of a receiver in the radar system. The radar performance monitor is actuated at the option of a radar operator.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 1993Date of Patent: November 16, 1993Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventors: William J. Wilson, David G. Armstrong, Roy E. Byington, Nathan Freedman, Neil F. Lacey, Fritz A. Gross

Patent number: 4145692Abstract: A performance monitor for use with marine radars which produces a visual indication upon the radar display screen only when the radar transmitter power, and the radar receiver sensitivity and tuning are within predetermined limits. An RF sample of the radar transmitted signal is mixed with a local oscillator signal and the resulting IF signal is coupled to an AFC loop which controls the frequency of the local oscillator. If the amplitude of the radar transmitted signal is above a threshold level, a single frequency response signal of fixed power is generated by the performance monitor and transmitted back to the radar antenna. A distinctive test pattern is produced upon the radar display if the radar receiver tuning is accurate and its sensitivity is sufficiently high.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 1977Date of Patent: March 20, 1979Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventors: David G. Armstrong, William J. Bickford, Ronald K. VanderKruik, John T. Zimmer
