  • Patent number: 7597114
Abstract: A venting device including one or more seals, one or more floats, and a cap is provided. The one or more seals and the one or more floats are encapsulated by the cap. The venting device further includes a passage, which allows intake and exhaust of air from a driveline component. The one or more floats are capable of moving from a first position to a second position in the passage. The one or more seals close the passage when the one or more floats are at the second position, thereby restricting intake of water in the driveline component.

  • Patent number: 7296493
Abstract: An offset transmission shift lever assembly and isolator arrangement is provided. The shift lever assembly includes an insert arranged to fit over a transmission shift stub. An isolator is provided that encircles the insert and is formed thereto. The isolator has a varying outside diameter such upon assembling the isolator into a canister that encircles the isolator, a portion of the isolator outside diameter is press fit into the canister and another portion of the isolator outside diameter does not contact the canister thereby leaving a gap between the canister and the isolator. The isolator also includes axial holes formed in a lower end thereof and extending axially for a portion of the isolator length. Affixed to the canister is a shift lever aligned parallel to and offset from the shift stub. A fastener is provided for securing the shift lever assembly via the insert to the shift stub.

  • Patent number: 6360627
Abstract: An arrangement of an offset shift lever for an automotive vehicle transmission having a shift stub which is connected to the transmission and which also has a generally axial threaded bore. A metal cylindrical insert is sized to fit over the shift stub. The insert has a partially closed end with a fastener shank opening. An elastic isolator is bonded to the insert. The isolator has a fastener opening generally aligned with the fastener shank opening of the insert. A metallic canister encircles the isolator and is bonded thereto. The canister has a fastener opening and a shift lever opening. A shift lever is connected with the canister along its lower end which is received into the canister shift lever opening. The shift lever is aligned parallel and off-center to the shift stub by the canister. A threaded fastener is inserted through the canister and isolator fastener opening to threadably connect the shift lever canister isolator and insert with the transmission shift stub.

  • Patent number: 5404979
Abstract: A manual transmission modular clutch assembly has a flywheel, pressure plate and interposed clutch plate mounted in a cover that is adapted to be connected to an engine crankshaft and wherein separate spring-torque straps connect the pressure plate and the flywheel to the cover for rotation therewith. At assembly the flywheel is positioned against the force of its spring-torque straps by travel limit pins that are retained on the cover, press fitted in the flywheel and contact with the pressure plate when in its clutch engaging position. A diaphragm spring normally clamps the pressure plate, clutch plate and flywheel together and is adapted to be connected to a clutch pedal to release the clutch. As wear occurs, the pressure plate is allowed to move further in the direction of the flywheel and forces the flywheel travel limit pins to move in their press fit by the same amount.
