  • Patent number: 8713412
Abstract: Apparatuses of wireless subscribers that manage storage of HARQ packets are disclosed. One embodiment of a wireless subscriber includes receiver circuitry for wirelessly receiving HARQ packets. CRC processing circuitry checks an error status of the received HARQ packets. A HARQ memory controller divides the HARQ packets into HARQ sub-packets for storage in HARQ memory. The HARQ memory controller records storage locations and a storage order of each of the HARQ sub-packets.

  • Patent number: 8705543
Abstract: A broadband gateway, which enables communication with a plurality of devices, handles at least one physical layer connection to at least one corresponding network access service provider. The broadband gateway may receive a packet from a network access service provider over a physical layer connection. The broadband gateway may determine which one of a set of possible transport protocols is utilized for the received packet. The determined transport protocol is utilized to identify or search for content of the received packet. The set of possible transport protocols are selected based on, for example, a channel type identified for the physical layer connection. The selected set of possible transport protocols may be utilized, sequentially or concurrently, to determine the transport protocol for the received packet. The identified content is marked utilizing the determined transport protocol for content distribution to devices for content consumption.

  • Publication number: 20140066076
Abstract: A multi-radio mobile device comprises a plurality of different radios. When a location update occurs, the multi-radio mobile device, at a specific location, acquires location-based radio information from a remote location server. The multi-radio mobile device selects a radio for use in the specific location based on the acquired location-based radio information comprising available radios in the specific location and radio weights. The radio is selected from the available radios based on the radio weights in the specific location. Transmissions of a desired service are received in the specific location utilizing the selected radio. Location-based radio measurements reports to the remote location server are generated utilizing signal strength measurements for the received signals. Radio quality information of the available radios is calculated by the location server utilizing location-based radio measurement reports from associated users.

  • Patent number: 8560734
Abstract: A method and system that allows a host system application to securely communicate with a legacy device is provided. A redirector software module receives data that is destined for a host system serial COM port. Data is secured and re-directed to a legacy device via a network port instead of the serial COM port. Conversely, data destined for the host system is provided to a device server via a server COM port by the legacy serial device. The data can be encrypted and sent to the host system via the network. The redirector software module decrypts the encrypted data and presents it to the consumer application as if the data had arrived via the local COM port.

  • Publication number: 20130109448
Abstract: An RF transceiver includes a configuration controller that generates a control signal to select a first candidate radiation pattern for a beamforming antenna based on a first plurality of steering weights. An RF transceiver section broadcasts a first beacon transmission with the first candidate radiation pattern, and generates feedback signals to indicate if a first remote station has responded to the first beacon transmission. When the first remote station has responded to the first beacon transmission, the configuration controller stores the first plurality of steering weights used in association with the beacon transmission and generates control signals to the RF transceiver section to use the first candidate radiation pattern when communicating with the first remote station.
