A printing apparatus includes a platen and a carriage including a number of ink nozzles, the carriage being configured to move across a substrate placed on top of the platen; and a control system configured to adjust the spacing between which ink droplets are fired from ink nozzles of the printer as the ink nozzles move in relation to a substrate.
