Patent number: 11936112Abstract: Provided herein are various enhancements for antenna systems and directed radio frequency energy structures. In one example, an apparatus includes an antenna array comprising a plurality of antenna elements formed by waveguide structures embedded within a substrate and positioned about a longitudinal axis of the substrate to form at least two concentric ring arrangements of antenna elements. Apertures of the waveguide structures are configured to emit or receive radio frequency (RF) energy generally along the longitudinal axis. Feed elements are coupled to each of the waveguide structures on an end opposite of the apertures, and configured to couple the RF energy for the antenna array.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 2022Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: Lockheed Martin CorporationInventors: Thomas Henry Hand, Joshua David Gustafson, Adam Blair Hess, Thomas Patrick Cencich, Braiden T. Publication number: 20180164251Abstract: In a system and method of eddy current testing, all analog portions of an eddy current tester are generated in a probe assembly that includes a coil module and a tester module, wherein the probe assembly is inserted into a tube under inspection. The tester module supplies to the coil module analog signals that induce eddy currents in the tube under inspection and receives from the coil module analog signals produced in response to the induced eddy currents. The tester module converts the received analog signals into digital data corresponding to the induced eddy currents. Digital data, control signals, and power and ground are sent over a cable that runs between the tester module and an interface module. The cable does not carry analog signals. The data can be converted into eddy current data that can be displayed on a display.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 12, 2017Publication date: June 14, 2018Inventors: David A. Hand, Michael D. Coradi

Patent number: 9851164Abstract: In a system and method of working tubes coupled to a tubesheet having a number of holes, wherein each hole in fluid communication with one of the tubes, an end-effector is positioned by a robot in coarse or rough alignment with a first hole in the tubesheet. Via lasers positioned on the end-effector, laser spots are formed on a surface of the tubesheet adjacent the first hole. The laser spots are detected by a camera and the alignment of the end-effector relative to the first hole in the tubesheet is refined via the robot based on the detected pattern of laser spots. The tool is then moved into the tube that is in fluid communication with the first hole in the tubesheet to work on (inspect, plug, sleeve or weld) the tube.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2015Date of Patent: December 26, 2017Assignee: CoreStar International CorporationInventors: David A. Patent number: 9410777Abstract: Applicants have created improved systems and apparatuses for a ballistic arrow used to penetrate the surface of a target. The apparatus includes an arrow tip, a support feature, and a collar partially disposed about the support feature. The apparatus further includes a plurality of primary blades disposed radially about the support feature and a plurality of secondary blades partially disposed between the primary blades. The system includes an arrowhead and arrow shaft coupled to the arrowhead. The arrowhead includes an arrow tip, a support feature, and a collar partially disposed about the support feature. The arrowhead includes a plurality of arrow blades adapted to expand radially outward from the support feature upon impact of the arrow tip with a target. The apparatuses and systems described throughout this disclosure can improve the both the reliability and lethality of a ballistic arrow used to hunt game and other wildlife.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 2014Date of Patent: August 9, 2016Assignee: BALLISTIC ARROW TECH, LLCInventor: William David Hand
