  • Patent number: 8669809
Abstract: A circuit includes a first input terminal for receiving a first pulsed voltage and a second input terminal for receiving a second pulsed voltage. The circuit further includes a load and an LC filter. The LC filter includes a coupled inductor pair that includes a first winding and a second winding magnetically coupled to each other. The first winding is coupled between the first input terminal and the load, and the second winding is coupled between the second input terminal and the load. A frequency of a first current flowing through the first winding is increased by the second pulsed voltage applied to the second winding.

  • Publication number: 20140055489
Abstract: An operator telerobotically controls tools to perform a procedure on an object at a work site while viewing real-time images of the work site on a display. Tool information is provided in the operator's current gaze area on the display by rendering the tool information over the tool so as not to obscure objects being worked on at the time by the tool nor to require eyes of the user to refocus when looking at the tool information and the image of the tool on a stereo viewer.

  • Publication number: 20130267915
Abstract: A medical grade cleansing and numbing agent combination pad is disclosed. An example combination pad includes a pad impregnated with a cleansing agent and a numbing agent each in separate layers. Both the cleansing agent and the numbing agent are released through a same side of the pad without a user having to turn the pad over to apply both the cleansing agent and the numbing agent to a treatment area at substantially the same time. A barrier prevents the numbing agent from contacting the user during application to the treatment area.

  • Publication number: 20130085329
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to calibration target devices, assemblies and methods for use with imaging systems, such as a stereoscopic endoscope. A calibration assembly includes: a target surface extends in three dimensions with calibration markers and a body with an interface that engages an endoscope so the markers are within the field of view. A first calibration marker extends along a first plane of the target surface and a second marker extends along a second plane of the target surface. The planes are different and asymmetric relative to the field of view as seen through the endoscope. Three-dimensional targets, in particular, enable endoscopic calibration using a single image (or pair of images for a stereoscopic endoscope) to reduce the calibration process complexity, calibration time and chance of error as well as allow the efficient calibration of cameras at different focus positions.

  • Publication number: 20130025888
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for hot aisle/cold aisle data center fire suppression according to various aspects of the present invention include a detection system that is configured to be located proximate to a side of a computer cabinet facing a hot aisle and a discharge system that is configured to be located within a subfloor having a cooling airflow that is directed upwards from the subfloor through one or more vents in the subfloor and into a cold aisle. The detection system may be configured to detect a fire condition such as smoke exiting the cabinet and in response generate a signal that activates the discharge system. The discharge system may be configured to inject a fire suppressant into the cooling airflow, whereby the cooling airflow may facilitate delivery of the fire suppressant into the cold aisle and the computer cabinet.

  • Patent number: 8357148
Abstract: A multi-functional endoscopic system, for use in electrosurgical applications, that includes an imaging endoscope that may be used in combination with various electrosurgical devices, all of which are sufficiently inexpensive to manufacture, such that the endoscope and electrosurgical devices are considered single use, disposable items. The multi-functional endoscopic system of the present invention is suitable for use with a variety of common electrosurgical devices that require electrical/electronic support in order to function. The electrical/electronic support for these electrosurgical devices (e.g., an electrosurgical generator and associated controls) is integrated with the operator console of the imaging endoscope of the multi-functional endoscopic system of the present invention, rather than provided as a separate device.

  • Publication number: 20120191227
Abstract: Challenge events and competition events are created and communicated to potential participants. The events are priced using a calculator that bases the price on the results of previous events and a catalog of reusable code assets using an analytics engine. One or more participants are chosen for the event by a selector subsystem. A solution is submitted by the chosen participant. The submission is evaluated, and scored in a challenge server layer. A payment application rewards the participant according to the event specifications and the scoring results.

Abstract: A laser device includes a plurality of lasers that includes a first laser and a second laser. The laser device further includes a drive circuit configured to apply a pulsed current to the first laser at a first phase. The drive circuit is further configured to apply the pulsed current to the second laser at a second phase. The first phase and the second phase are different. A total voltage provided to the plurality of lasers during a period between the first and second phases is substantially smaller than a sum of individual voltages provided to the plurality of lasers, respectively, during a pulse period of the pulsed current.
