  • Patent number: 8326658
Abstract: An electronic catalog system monitors browsing actions of users to generate user activity data. A data mining component analyzes the user activity data to generate conditional probability data that is presented to users contextually to assist users in selecting items from the electronic catalog. The conditional probability data reflects the frequencies with which users that have performed specific actions, such as viewing a particular item, set of items or web page, or conducting a specific search, have thereafter acquired specific items from the catalog. For example, in one embodiment, when a user selects a first item for viewing in the catalog, the user is notified, for at least one second item, of a frequency with which users who have viewed the first item and then made a purchase have acquired the second item.

  • Publication number: 20120303412
Abstract: Data relating to products sold across a plurality of merchants may be gathered from a variety of sources and processed, including with machine learning components. Identifiers of a same product sold by different merchants may be de-duplicated and/or matched as part of the data processing into a smaller set of uniquely identified products. When the data comes from text, including free-form text, an information extraction and/or machine learning component may be used to detect references to new and known unique products, including product successors (e.g., new product models). Product successor availability may be determined based on gathered data. Product price movement direction predictions, and/or product price range predictions may be determined, as well as purchase-timing recommendations (e.g. Buy or Wait). Such recommendations may be provided for presentation (e.g., to prediction service users) in a variety of forms.

  • Patent number: 8295532
Abstract: Methods and systems for wireless headset instant on capability during battery charging are disclosed and may include powering a wireless headset so that it may be operable to transmit/receive wireless signals during charging. The headset may be powered via an external charger and may be coupled to the headset via a USB link. The headset may be powered via one or more internal batteries, and may be independent of a power level of the batteries within the headset. RF and baseband circuitry may be powered for transmitting/receiving wireless signals during charging. The headset may utilize USB power management, and may manage discharge of power from a plurality of internal batteries. The batteries may be decoupled from circuits that enable transmitting/receiving wireless signals during charging. The headset may be powered via the charging device so that the headset may be operable to generate output audio signals during charging.

  • Publication number: 20120239455
Abstract: A method and system is provided for making price-related predictions of items based on training a classifier using historical information including pricing information for the items and labels relating to the price-related information that are generated automatically from the historical information. A prediction system provides price-related predictions for airline tickets. The prediction system collects flight information for flights on a daily basis. The prediction system generates training data to train a classifier to make the price-related predictions using the flight information. After training the classifier, the prediction system then can make the price-related predictions for a trip.

  • Patent number: 8267413
Abstract: The present invention is a device for adjusting the camber angle of a tire/wheel assembly of a vehicle. The device comprises a camber arm having a cage. The cage comprises a cavity and front and top walls. The top wall comprises first and second slots. The cage further comprising a cut-out extending along the front and top walls. The device further comprises a ball joint assembly adjustably engaged with the cage. The device further comprises a fastener for securing the upper clamping plate to the lower clamping plate of the ball joint assembly. The ball joint assembly is adjustably moved along the first and second slots of the cage from a first position where the outward portion of the ball joint housing is disposed outside of the cavity of the cage and a second position where the outward portion of the ball joint housing is disposed within the cavity.

  • Patent number: 8229144
Abstract: Methods and systems for wireless communication are disclosed and may include controlling a loading and/or a charging of a battery source in each earpiece of the wireless stereo headset. The loading control may include switching between the battery sources powering the headset. A remaining power level may be monitored for each of the battery sources. Both earpieces in the headset may be powered utilizing one or both of the battery sources. One of the earpieces in the headset may be powered utilizing one of the battery sources. A total usage time may be stored for each of the battery sources. The loading and charging of the battery sources may be controlled by equalizing the total usage time for each of the battery sources. The earpieces in the headset may be coupled via a tether line, or may be coupled wirelessly.

  • Publication number: 20110046989
Abstract: A method and system for protecting prices is provided. The price protection system increases consumer confidence when making purchases by reducing the risk associated with fluctuating prices. The price protection system receives a purchase specification from a consumer. Next, the price protection system determines the risk that the prices of items matching the purchase specification will change and reports a protected price to the consumer that represents the price that the price protection system will protect based on the determined risk for a protection period. Finally, the price protection system receives a request from the consumer to purchase protection of the protected price.
