The animal monitoring database is configured to receive the location of the animal, access the accreditation database and match the location of the animal with a location associated with a property of a new owner stored in the accreditation database, issue an electronic ownership transfer request to the current owner and the new owner, receive a confirmation from the current owner and the new owner, record the new owner as the current owner of the animal in the animal monitoring database, and transmit the electronic ownership transfer request to the accreditation database to record the new owner as the current owner of the animal.
