  • Patent number: 6430192
Abstract: A method of operating a repeater for a packet-based data transmission system wherein the repeater has a receiving port associated with a buffer whereby packets received at the port are temporarily stored before they are onwardly transmitted and wherein the repeater performs a contention resolution process such that if an attempted onward transmission of a packet is prevented by virtue of contention with a prior or an existing transmission, a subsequent attempt at transmission of that packet is delayed for a time which is likely to be substantially greater than a selected minimum time. The method includes examining a received packet to determine whether the packet is a multi-media packet, and giving the packet a higher priority in the contention resolution process such that if the packet is not transmitted onwardly owing to contention with a prior transmission, a fresh attempt at transmission of the packet is made on the expiry of the selected minimum time.

  • Patent number: 6422645
Abstract: A folding chair has a rigid support frame with a curved spline profile, and a seat and rear legs which fold into a closed position and substantially collapse within a volume defined by the support frame to maximize stacking density, and to increase stability with the curved spline profiles nesting within one another. The support frame has first and second rigid side support members, each with an upper back support portion and extending forwardly to form front leg portions. The back support portion and the front leg portions are integrally and rigidly connected to advantageously form a curved spline profile. A seat is pivotally coupled to the support frame, or to and between the first and second support members. A majority of the seat advantageously collapses to a folded position within a volume defined between the first and second rigid side support members. Rear legs are pivotally coupled to the support frame, or to the respective first and second support members.

  • Publication number: 20020086966
Abstract: The invention provides an aqueous coating composition containing a dispersed, emulsified, or dissolved material (organic compound, resin, or polymer), in which the material is dispersed, emulsified, or dissolved with a water-soluble, carbamate-functional material. The invention further provides a coating prepared from the coating composition and a coated substrate, especially an automotive substrate, having the coating thereon.

  • Publication number: 20020071398
Abstract: Traffic through a port of a network switch is monitored and controlled by a token bucket system having a duplex mode in which the bandwidths available for incoming and outgoing packets are controlled by a single token bucket and a half-duplex mode in which the bandwidths for incoming and outgoing packets are controlled by a respective one of two token buckets

  • Patent number: 6399890
Abstract: A printed circuit board which has in a first edge a first notch and a second notch a first predetermined distance apart and along said first edge between said first and second notches a plurality of terminal pads in a broadside array, the first edge including a third notch spaced from the second notch and disposed a second predetermined distance, greater than the first predetermined distance, from said first notch, the board having along and adjacent the first edge between the second and third notches a second plurality of terminal pads arranged in a respective broadside array.

  • Publication number: 20020057683
Abstract: A control device for a unit in a cascade connection of network units includes control logic which increments a count of active units and passes the count to the next control device. The count is initiated and terminated by an absence of control messages at the down port and up port respectively. The incremented count is passed up the cascade and a final count is passed down the cascade.

  • Patent number: 6385669
Abstract: An interface comprises a management entity including a first state machine, a bidirectional serial data bus and a clock line, intended for connection to physical layer devices each of which includes at least one register into which data can be written by way of the serial data bus and at least one register from which data can be read by way of the serial data bus, the management entity providing a clock signal having transitions defining bit periods for said data and further comprising a line driver for the serial data bus and an amplifier which is connected to sense the voltage level of the data bus. The management entity is organised to detect during a specified period while the line driver is quiescent whether the physical layer device is present or not according as the voltage of the bus approaches that of a voltage supply rail in the physical layer device or that of a datum for the management entity.

  • Patent number: 6345863
Abstract: A folding chair has a support frame with a back support portion, front leg portions, and rear legs. A seat is pivotally coupled to the support frame. A flexible back support is coupled to the support frame, and has a lumbar support member extending down from the back support to reach a lumbar region of a user's back. The lumbar support member extends from the back support into a space between the back support and seat. The seat pivots in a downward direction away from the back support and lumbar support ID member, so that the seat folds without interfering with the lumbar support member. The back support also has a perimeter flange disposed across the rigid back support perimeter, and free to move with respect to the rigid support frame in response to a load applied to the flexible back support.
