Patent number: 9609941Abstract: A hair styling tool having a plurality of bristles and one or more movable members extending radially outward from the core and movable between opposing positions is provided. The movable members move between a retracted position where the divider is fitted between and even with or slightly above or slightly below the bristles to engage the hair and an extended position where the divider is moved out beyond the bristles to disengage the hair from the bristles. The hair styling tool having the movable member which engages and disengages the hair with the bristles minimizes tangling of the hair while brushing. The hair styling tool may be a rotating brush optionally equipped with a motor.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2016Date of Patent: April 4, 2017Assignee: M. M. & R. Products, Inc.Inventors: Michael A. Publication number: 20090011906Abstract: The present invention is an exercise device, primarily for aerobic exercise. The invention is a hybrid between a toy called a pogo stick, a stair stepper, a trampoline and a ski simulator. The present invention combines the exercise a user receives from an exercise machine with the enjoyment a user receives from a toy. The user stands on pedals and grasps a handle, then either steps up and down against elastic resistance, or bounces up and down. The user may also swing from side to side or scissor his legs. Additionally, a pivot allows a combination of motions, such as scissoring while bouncing up and down. The amount of resistance may be controlled by adding or modifying elastic components.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 5, 2008Publication date: January 8, 2009Applicant: PRODUCTS OF TOMORROW, INC.Inventors: Juan Fernandez, David J. Publication number: 20070289076Abstract: A motorized fluid dispenser is disclosed that provides a reservoir for retaining fluid, a dispensing end of the reservoir that opens onto an applicator, and a motor which provides movement to the applicator while the fluid is dispensed. The motor does not power fluid dispensing but provides movement of the applicator which, depending on the intended use of the fluid dispensed, may move the surface upon which the fluid is dispensed or may move the applicator relative to the surface. A cap is provided that physically prevents fluid from being dispensed while the cap is in place. The reservoir is adapted to withstand variations in temperature to permit immersion of the reservoir in a heated or cooling atmosphere or bath, and to withstand fluids that may be exothermic or endothermic.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 21, 2006Publication date: December 20, 2007Inventors: David J. Publication number: 20040231077Abstract: Bristles for brushing a user's hair extend outwardly from a closed loop conveyor. The loop is multi-sided (preferably three sides defining a triangular or egg-shaped configuration) and has curved apices at the extremities of adjacent pairs of sides. The curved apices define different angles. The conveyor brushes the user's hair at the position of an apex with a large curvature angle when the user's hair is relatively long, the conveyor brushes the user's hair at the position of an apex with a small curvature angle when the user's hair is relatively short. The conveyor has relatively straight sides between the apices. The conveyor smoothes the user's hair when the straight sides are applied to the user's hair. The triangular configuration may be isosceles. However, the triangular configuration may have different curvature angles at the different apices. A stationary handle attached to the conveyor 58 houses a motor for driving the conveyor.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 21, 2003Publication date: November 25, 2004Inventor: David J. Richmond

Patent number: 6626807Abstract: In one preferred embodiment, first and second platforms are respectively provided for supporting a user's arms and knees. Rollers on the bottom surface of at least one of the units facilitate relative movements between the units. A detent may extend from the unit receiving the user's legs to retain the user's calves or ankles on the unit. An elastic cord separable from at least one of the units may extend between the units to provide for a controlled relative movement between the units and to facilitate a collapse of the unit into suitcase size. In another preferred embodiment, a pair of units having straps for grasping by the units hands are provided, one for each of the user's arms. Each unit is rotatable and/or movable linearly on a support surface in any direction independently of the other.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2000Date of Patent: September 30, 2003Assignee: Total Tiger, Inc.Inventor: David J. Publication number: 20030131865Abstract: A rotatable hair brush includes a core with a plurality of series of holes, each series displaced in an annular direction from the other series. Bristles are disposed in the holes. Dividers are disposed on the core between successive series of bristles. A support member holds the dividers. Detents on the support member, and on an end cap at the other end, and matching detents on the core retain the core fixedly relative to the dividers. A handle extending from the other end of the core and the dividers holds a battery and a motor for rotating the core and the dividers. The end cap and the portion of the handle adjacent the end cap are shaped to provide a smooth continuous surface (preferably concave) for preventing a user's hair from becoming entangled during the brush operation. An end cap covering the support member has a smooth continuous surface to prevent the user's hair from becoming entangled during the brush operation.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 17, 2002Publication date: July 17, 2003Inventors: David J. Richmond, Jeffery Scott Kunkler, Claudio Marino, Jason Janavicius, Michael Ragosta

Patent number: 6494818Abstract: A foot rest made from a suitable material (e.g. a polyolefin) may have, in cross section, a tear drop configuration defined by a progressively increasing width or may have a cylindrical shape in cross section. An aperture is provided through the foot rest and a hollow rod is extended through the aperture. In one embodiment, a stretchable member made from a suitable material such as a latex extends through the hollow rod closed loop. The user disposes the stretchable member around his thighs and feet and then reclines on a floor with the user's back on the floor. The user then rests his feet on the floor against the foot rest while reclining. The user then alternately arches the user's back upwardly to stretch the stretchable member and collapses the user's back against the floor to release such stretching.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 1995Date of Patent: December 17, 2002Assignee: Modern MediaInventor: David J.
