  • Patent number: 9316322
Abstract: A gate valve has a gate valve seat for sealing a valve body to a gate of the gate valve. The valve seat extends from a flow passage of the valve body into a cavity of the valve body parallel to an axis of the flow passage. The cavity is perpendicular to the flow passage, and the gate is disposed within the cavity. The valve seat has a tubular body having a face for contact with a gate, and an end opposite the face adjacent to and in contact with the valve body. The valve seat also includes a sleeve positioned on an inner diameter of the tubular body, the sleeve adapted to receive a shear force for shearing a member extending through the flow passage, the inner sleeve having an adjustable length.

  • Patent number: 8720953
Abstract: A connector for use with a subsea riser installation is provided. The connector comprises a body, wherein the body comprises a first connecting face comprising a through-passageway and adapted for connection to a first external conduit element and a ball joint within the body, wherein the ball joint comprises a through-passageway which is substantially aligned with the through-passageway in the first face, and a second connecting face on an opposite side of the connector to the first connecting face and adapted for connection to a second external conduit element. The connector further comprises at least one detent mechanism adapted to engage a corresponding locating feature on the ball joint, wherein the through-passageway are maintained in alignment and wherein the ball joint is prevented from moving relative to the body until a predetermined bending moment is applied to the ball joint across the axis of the through-passageway in the ball joint.

  • Patent number: 6185896
Abstract: A screw threaded fastener (103) has an elongate shank (122) with a drilling tip (104) at one end and a head (123) at the other end. A screw thread extends along at least a part of the length of the shank (122). The trailing flank (116) of the thread subtends an angle (B) relative to the axis (117) of the fastener which approaches 90° and is greater than the angle (C) subtended by the leading flank (115). The screw is for use in fixing sheets of material a1 to thin metal battens (5) and the angle between the trailing flank (116) and the adjacent thin metal section (18) of the batten (9), being reduced in comparison to a conventional thread form, lessens the distorting effect of the thread on the batten (9) under relatively high pull-out loads.

  • Patent number: 6176664
Abstract: A fastening screw having an elongate shank (1), and a drilling tip (2) and a head (3) provided at respective opposite ends of the shank (1). The drilling tip (2) has a cutting edge (5) for cutting through metal and a flute (6) extending longitudinally of the shank (1). A thread (8) is formed on the shank (1) and extends over a portion of the section of the shank (1) in which the flute (6) is formed. A method of forming a fastening screw from a screw preform (9), includes deforming the preform (9) to create a drilling tip (2) which has at least one cutting edge (5) and a flute (6), and applying a thread (8) to the shank (1) in the region in which the flute (6) is formed.

  • Patent number: 5724674
Abstract: Improved material utilization and barrier protection for surgical sleeves is provided by improved garment pattern design and methods of assembly. The surgical sleeve of the present invention is formed from a single sheet of material. By folding the sheet of material, a reinforcing layer integral with a sleeve layer is formed. A dual layered sleeve having two integral sleeve layers is also formed by folding a single sheet of material. One of the sleeve layers of the dual layered sleeve may be folded so as to form a reinforcing layer integral with said sleeve layer.
