  • Patent number: 7944676
Abstract: An apparatus records a use of force. The apparatus includes a weapon that initiates application of the force against a target, being a person or animal, to stop undesired behavior by the target. The apparatus further includes a processing circuit that provides, after an operation of the weapon, indicia of a prompt. The prompt elicits a spoken reply from an operator of the apparatus. The reply describes the use of force, and records indicia of the reply received from a provided input device. A method of operation of an electronic weapon includes applying a force wherein applying comprises passing a current through tissue of a target to produce contractions in skeletal muscles of the target to impede locomotion by the target; and recording a description of the application, the description in accordance with operator input.

  • Patent number: 7600337
Abstract: A method is performed by a deployment unit for an electronic weapon. The method includes describing the apparatus to a launch device of the weapon; and propelling the electrode in response to the launch device. The electrode conducts a current through a provided target to impede locomotion by the target.

  • Patent number: 7409912
Abstract: An apparatus for use in place of a round of percussion primed ammunition in a weapon includes a power supply and a switch. The switch is responsive to the mechanism in the weapon that fires the ammunition. Operation of the switch may enable the power supply to supply power to a replaceable cartridge. The cartridge may propel probes for delivering an incapacitating electrical charge from the power supply to the target. Another cartridge may include contacts to be applied without propellant to the target to stun the target. The apparatus may be inserted in the barrel of a weapon, for example, into the muzzle of a grenade launcher.

  • Patent number: 5834681
Abstract: A high-low pressure ammunition cartridge includes a case containing a gas expansion chamber and a missile chamber separated from each other by a pressure containment wall containing one or more pressure control ports providing fluid communication between the gas expansion chamber and the missile chamber. The gas expansion chamber is located between the pressure containment wall and a base plate pressed into the back end of the case. The pressure containment wall may either be integral with the case or a separate piece which is removable from the case along with the base plate to facilitate reloading of the cartridge thereby reducing the cost of using the cartridge. The thickness of the base plate may be varied for varying the volume of the gas expansion chamber. Also, the thickness of the gas containment wall and number and size of holes in the gas containment wall may be varied for varying the velocity of the gas entering the missile chamber from the gas expansion chamber.
