  • Patent number: 8682852
Abstract: Maintaining data at a failover site includes an application writing data at a primary site corresponding to the failover site, where data is transferred asynchronously from the primary site to the failover site, the application issuing an application check point and initiating a system check point in response to the application issuing the application check point, where the system check point causes data at the failover site to be consistent with the primary site. The application check point may complete only after the system check point completes. The application check point may complete independently of completion of the system check point. The application check point may complete either only after the system check point completes or independently of completion of the system check point according to a specific criteria.

  • Patent number: 8527696
Abstract: A method and computer program product for receiving a data read request on a first array in a multi-array storage network. If the requested data is resident on the first array, the requested data is obtained from a storage device included within the first array. If not, the requested data is obtained from a storage device included within an at least a second array via an out-of-band cache control process. A method and computer program product for receiving a data write request on a first array for data to be stored on a multi-array storage. The data write request is processed to determine if the data is to be stored on the first array or on at least a second array. If the data is to be stored on the at least a second array, the data is stored via an out-of-band cache control process.

  • Publication number: 20130015346
Abstract: A method for the detection and quantitation of pain medication in oral fluid specimens is provided. First, a Solid Phase Extraction (“SPE”) process is used to isolate cocaine and its metabolite, amphetamines and/or butalbital from human oral fluid samples. Alternatively, Liquid-Liquid Extraction (“LLE”) is used to isolate methadone and its metabolite, fentanyl and norfentanyl, buprenorphine and norbuprenorphine, propoxyphene and norpropoxyphene, carisoprodol, meprobamate, a series of benzodiazepines, tramadol and its metabolites, the analgesic opioids, and tetrahydrocannabinol (“THC”) and its carboxylated metabolite (“THC-C”). Finally, following isolation of these drugs and their metabolites, they are separated respectively using a high performance liquid chromatographic column and a novel combination chromatographic solvents and gradients. All analytes are detected and quantified using a tandem mass spectrometry (“MS/MS”) precursor to produce ion transitions.

  • Patent number: 7363418
Abstract: A volume matrix is established including host devices on a host computer and virtual devices and logical devices on a data storage system. Each host device/virtual device (H/V) pair has a user-visible primary address range to serve as a primary H/V pair on a primary path for a logical device, and selected H/V pairs also have one or more user-hidden secondary address ranges to serve as secondary H/V pairs on secondary paths for other logical devices. The host computer directs storage requests to either the primary path or a secondary path to a target logical device based on expected performance criteria, and if a secondary path is used then the address is translated to the correct secondary address range. The data storage system performs the storage request on the target logical device after determining whether the request was received on the primary path or a secondary path, in which case the storage address is further translated to an address range of the target logical device.

  • Patent number: 7117275
Abstract: A system interface includes a plurality of first directors, a plurality of second directors, a data transfer section and a message network. The data transfer section includes a cache memory. The cache memory is coupled to the plurality of first and second directors. The messaging network operates independently of the data transfer section and such network is coupled to the plurality of first directors and the plurality of second directors. The first and second directors control data transfer between the first directors and the second directors in response to messages passing between the first directors and the second directors through the messaging network to facilitate data transfer between first directors and the second directors. The data passes through the cache memory in the data transfer section. A method for operating a data storage system adapted to transfer data between a host computer/server and a bank of disk drives.

  • Patent number: 6543235
Abstract: A single circuit fuel injector apparatus having a bifurcated recirculation zone is provided. The single circuit injector includes an injector tip having an aft facing tapered surface which is communicated with a plurality of fuel injector ports. A radially inward tapered conical air splitter directs sweep air over the tapered injector tip. An air blast atomizer filmer lip is disposed concentrically outward from the tapered tip. In a low power operating mode, fuel exiting the fuel injector ports is entrained within a centralized sweep air stream. In a high power operating mode, the majority of the fuel exiting the fuel injection ports has sufficient momentum to carry it across the sweep air stream so that it falls upon the main fuel filmer lip and is entrained in an outer main air stream.

  • Patent number: 4976270
Abstract: A method and apparatus for continuously sampling plasma are disclosed. The method of the present invention comprises removing blood from the patient, separating a substantially small portion of plasma, and returning the blood to the patient. The removing, separating, and returning steps are performed continuously and simultaneously with each other. The apparatus of the present invention relates to a double-lumen cannula or venipuncture needle for the removal and returning of blood to the patient at the same site.

  • Patent number: 4133848
Abstract: Means are disclosed for an improved carburetor wherein fuel is atomized for carburetion purposes by being pumped through a tube having a plurality of perforations in its periphery. The tube is covered by sleeves which telescope over it; and in reaction to either depression or release of the accelerator, the sleeves will move along the tube to either uncover or cover more or less of the holes, as desired. In this way, a more completely atomized fuel mixture is delivered to the carburetor under high pressure for improved efficiency. Tension means are also provided to return the sleeves to their normal or "idle" position following release of the accelerator.
