  • Patent number: 6935051
Abstract: A continuous gravity flow apparatus for heating and/or drying of particulate material is vertically disposed and is provided with an inlet at the top and an outlet at the bottom. The apparatus includes a flow passage for the particulate material which is defined between an outer housing and an inner housing. Each of the outer and inner housing defines perforated wall sections allowing for the flow of hot gas through the wall of one housing, into contact with the particulate material, and then out through the wall of the other housing. Manifolds are associated with the outer and inner housings to provide for uniform flow of the gas through the material. The perforated wall sections are positioned and designed to enhance particle-to-particle movement of the material to thereby avoid particle sticking and bridging problems.

  • Publication number: 20040213676
Abstract: An active sensing and switching device for use in controlling current to a load, comprising a controller means (U1) for disconnecting the load from a power source by providing a switch-open control signal based on a signal indicating a sensed value of electrical current to the load, characterized in that the controller means (U1) determines a nominal value for the electrical current to the load based on monitoring the signal indicating the sensed value of electrical current to the load. A load control system is also provided, including a single ASSD adapted to receive signals indicating sensed values of electrical current to a plurality of respective loads, and further comprising a plurality of load control modules adapted so as to be disposed in proximity to respective loads or a main power line, wherein the load control modules provide respective signals indicating sensed values of electrical currents to the respective loads.

  • Patent number: 5530844
Abstract: An interface provides a path to transfer data from a proprietary network to an open system. The proprietary network includes at least one module central processing unit (CPU) and a module memory associated therewith operatively connected to the proprietary network. A shared memory and shared memory logic are interposed between the proprietary network and the open system, thereby forming the data path. The method comprises the steps of accepting requests for data from the open system by a parasitic task function within the module CPU. The data requested of the proprietary network is obtained and placed in a predetermined location of the module memory in a form understandable to the open systems. A pointer value is placed in the shared memory, the pointer value containing the value of the predetermined location of the module memory, the shared memory being mapped in the addressable memory space of the shared memory logic using virtual memory techniques.

  • Patent number: 5441677
Abstract: A method of fabricating a concrete floor having an autogenous hard high gloss finish that does not require further coatings includes pouring a designed concrete mix to establish a slab having an upper surface slightly below the level determined for the finished floor. A finishing floor surface layer is created by applying an amount of a dry shake dressing material containing quartz crystals and a coloring agent, but no coarse aggregate, to the upper surface of the slab and floating the surface until the finishing layer reaches predetermined amount which cures to form a generally monolithic structure with the slab but having a higher compressive strength when fully cured. Necessary expansion joints are provided. The floor is coated with a curing sealer and allowed to cure for approximately 30 days, or until it reaches a predetermined compressive strength. The sealer material is removed and the expansion joints are sealed.

  • Patent number: 5096145
Abstract: An apparatus and method for applying a heated mixture of propylene glycol based aircraft deicing fluid and water to an aircraft. Propylene glycol based aircraft deicing fluid is heated by means of a directly fired combustion heater. The heated aircraft deicing fluid is mixed with hot water to form a deicing mixture for deicing aircraft. Diaphragm type positive displacement pumps, having controllable volumetric outputs, combine the heated aircraft deicing fluid and the heated water in a desired ratio. The volumetric outputs of the pumps can be varied to achieve a desired proportion of aircraft deicing fluid to water.

  • Patent number: 4866917
Abstract: A self-propelled, triplex greens mower has two front wheels and a single wheel mounted symmetrically relative to a longitudinal center line of the mower. Three mower units are mounted to the mower frame to cut grass ahead of each of the wheels. These mower units are offset so as to be located non-symmetrically relative to the center line with the offset being a distance equal to at least one-half the width of the wheels. Because of this offset, it is necessary only to reverse the mower direction for performing consecutive perimeter and cross cutting operations on a green in order to have the wheels follow different paths, thus avoiding undue compaction.

  • Patent number: 4126398
Abstract: A system for the preparation of no-bake foundry sands for preparation of metal casting molds. A settable binder is introduced into the sand and thoroughly and uniformly mixed therewith and then discharged around a pattern. The resulting mold then sets up and hardens rapidly without baking. After use to produce a metal casting, the mold is broken up and the sand recycled for further use. The present system is characterized by ease of feed rate variation, coordinated feeding of components, short residence time, efficient mixing and reduced clean-up problems. It comprises a horizontal axis paddle-type rotary mixer, coordinated means for feeding the mixture components to the mixer housing and discharge of the mixture upon demand including at least one gas assisted injection port or nozzle for the binder system and control means for regulating the rates of flow. The apparatus is desirably movably supported to facilitate distribution of the discharge.
