  • Patent number: 5389170
Abstract: Curable adhesive compositions comprise combinations of organosiloxane MQ resins and liquid polyorganosiloxanes of specified viscosity and functionality. The compositions are substantially free of unreactive materials and are applied in the molten state. Depending upon the concentration of reactive groups on the resin and polyorganosiloxane, the compositions may also include a silane containing an average of more than two hydrolyzable groups per molecule. Preferred compositions develop excellent adhesion to a variety of organic and metallic substrates during curing under ambient conditions.

  • Patent number: 5302671
Abstract: A moisture-curable silicone composition, suitable for use as a coating or pressure-sensitive adhesive, is disclosed, said composition comprising (i) a hydroxyl-functional organopolysiloxane resin comprising R.sub.3 SiO.sub.1/2 siloxane units and SiO.sub.4/2 siloxane units in a molar ratio of 0.5/1 to 1.2/1. respectively, wherein R is a hydrocarbon or halogenated hydrocarbon radical: (ii) a diorganopolysiloxane polymer having at least two silicon-bonded alkoxy groups and at least one carbon-bonded amine group in its molecule, said polymer having a viscosity at 25.degree. C. of 20 to 100,000 centipoise, the weight ratio of said resin to said polymer being in the range 20:80 to 80:20; (iii) optionally, a hydrolyzable silane in sufficient amount to provide stability to said composition; and (iv) optionally, sufficient catalyst to accelerate the cure of said composition.

  • Patent number: 4980440
Abstract: A new organohydrogenpolysiloxane compound and a new fluorosilicone polymer each have unique properties which allow for the preparation of faster curing coating compositions having longer bath life than those disclosed in the art. In a preferred embodiment the new polymers are mixed together to provide, along with a metal-containing hydrosilylation catalyst and a catalyst inhibitor to provide improved coating compositions which are useful for preparing a release liner to protect silicone pressure sensitive adhesives.

  • Patent number: 4889753
Abstract: Pressure sensitive adhesives can be protected with a releasable liner having a cured fluoroalkyl silicone coating which contains as little as two percent fluoroalkyl-substituted siloxane units. In a preferred embodiment of this invention silicone pressure sensitive adhesives can be solvent-cast, and even cured, directly onto the release surface of the liner and can be removed from the protective liner with a force of not more than 400 grams per inch. The fluoroalkyl silicone copolymers of this invention are prepared by a process which involves the preparation of a cohydrolyzate of fluoroalkyl-containing and fluoroalkyl-free siloxane units, followed by further polymerization of the cohydrolyzate with other siloxane units.

  • Patent number: 4530882
Abstract: Moisture-curable silicone compositions for adhesive-release coatings comprising an alkoxysilylorganosiloxane, a titanium ester and an aminoorganosiloxane have an adhesive-release force, when cured, which is directly related to the amount and type of aminoorganosiloxane. The compositions are useful for coating a flexible sheet material, such as paper or polymeric film, to provide a surface that will release pressure sensitive adhesive with a pre-selected release force of up to 400 g/in (154 N/m). Thin coatings of the composition cure in as little as 15 seconds when exposed to moisture.
