    Abstract: A reclining chair suitable for use in theaters or the like is provided wherein the backrest and seat are mounted upon spaced-apart wings having a substantially inverted, truncated, right triangular shape. The wings are respectively pivotally mounted to the inner sides of a pair of spaced-apart stanchions such that in the upright position of the chair the axis upon which the seat is mounted to the wings is located close to and substantially directly vertically above the axis upon which the wings are pivotally mounted to the respective stanchions. Stops are provided on the stanchions which interact with stop engaging surfaces on the wings to limit the forward and the downward and rearward travel of the backrest and seat.

    Abstract: A molded plastic seating module is disclosed which is suitable for assembly in groups to form bench type row seating especially telescoping bleachers. Each module is hollow and comprises two sections, a contoured seat and an upstanding base. The base is adapted to be secured to the support structure both vertically and horizontally and to resist tipping and the presence of structural stress concentrations in use. The seat is adapted to engage the base in a snap fit relation along its front and rear walls.

    Abstract: Apparatus is provided for setting up and collapsing long rows of seats for stadiums or auditoriums, wherein each seat is provided with gravity counter-balancing spring means such that setting up or collapsing an extended row of seats may be done from one end of the row with a minimum of distortion along the row or force required. Provision is made for automatic operation by means of a small electric motor which may be remotely controlled. Additional provision is made for locking each set of an extended row of seats in either the set up or collapsed positions and for unlocking them in response to the initial action of means for changing the seats from one position to the other.
